Planning to buy new LCD monitor. (19", 25ms response time. It had best review in view angle, color, and price.)
Anyway, best resolution for it is 1280x1024 I heard.
But at default install, FB(AEP) has no 1280x1024 res support.
Can I make it supported by adding some command line at certain file? I read it somewhere.
One more Question, would it provide correct screen? I don't want any distortion. It should show wider screen in vertical compared to 19" CRT 1280x960 res, not stretched vertical. Am I getting it right?
I don't care much about response time. Who knows? Maybe motion blur would make it easier for me to find dots.
Plz don't recommend another CRT. I got to see lots of texts and LCD is far beyond CRT in it.

-= 8 1 5 =- FB Dedi Server is coming soon. (with AEP Dedicated Server)
100Mb IDC line, P4 2.8G server.
Full real but limited icon, minimap path and spdbar.
You can expect something, since I run the server myself.

You want better response time.. don't be in denial about that it makes a HUGE difference..
Dell makes a 20.1 inch FP2100 or something along those lines.. it supports 1600X1200 at 60Hz native and has a 16ms response time.. it runs about $700.oo US on eBay new

You are wrong dude. LCD is not for gaming, yet.It draws polygons slower or something like that and causes blurring. I think you are making a mistake.

CRTs are far better for gaming then LCDs. And at half the price I could not see a reason for going LCD unless you really really needed extra deskspace.

You can make it work with the correct command line. I have a 17' LCD (16ms) and its one of the best investments I've made, FB play's beautiful. No more eye strain. Many here have LCD displays. A respected member stated his 25ms worked fine, but its your choice.

I used to fly on a LCD that had a 16ms response time... don't listen to those nay sayers that have no clue as to what they are saying.
The Dell I don't know about but NEC also makes a nice LCD with a 16ms time.
Very nice indeed.. less strain on the eyes is one of the nicest advantages.
The ONLY time I ever noticed any shadowing was during very fast scrolling of a text document. Even then it was not noticeable unless you actually knew what you were looking for.
My main screen for flying now is a 32" plasma.. but with my matrox card I am now using the 19" LCD and its twin
for my side views.
I will never go back to CRT for any reason.
But.. this is just my opinion, take it or leave it.

I switched to a Samsung 192N 19" LCD and haven't regretted ot a bit. Sure all the purists will say LCD's aren't for gaming and maybe they're right, but the new Falcon Northwest Mach V (their flagship btw) comes with a NEC LCD so maybe they're right.
All I can say is this, I got mine for the larger viewable image, smaller desktop footprint, lower energy consumption, less heat output. I've gotten all of this and less eye strain to boot. I'm a happy camper.
In fact after about 6 months of using it, I'm getting the Samsung 213T to replace it...so there.

Both of them are 25ms, right?
