    It's a video game?

Game developers can take liberties on things such as realism if they want to.

This is less about "taking liberties" and it being something literally nobody gets right. Even when they talk about going for a serious, realistic approach, they still Hollywood a lot of important details.

Well you said it yourself, nobody gets it right. Suppressors could be worse in this game, they could be like metal gear solid where they are only good for so many shots.

I don't remember fully what they do in this game, I know they reduce damage by a bit which so far doesn't matter considering how easily enemies go down. It would be dumb if they reduce range but even still it isn't the end of the world.

They reduce damage and penetration from what I've tested in the closed beta.

I hear suppressors might make bullet drop worse with sniper rifles, but I didn't try that out the closed beta.

Out of curiosity what does penetration do for weapons? I hear some people talking about being unable to shoot an enemy through even a wooden fence with the sniper rifle, yet I recall shooting an enemy through a thin barrier that he hid behind.

I did shoot enemies though wooden fence with the AR, close range though, with suppressor during the CB.

    Cheers.

I think GRW attempted to build a bit more realistic suppressor model but it is still way too good compared to reality. I'm pretty sure I alerted enemies to my presence when I shot different enemy at distance with suppressed sniper rifle--enemies started to search around my position.

I would love to see different levels of noise suppression depending on weapon--ARs and sniper rifles should be detectable at medium ranges, SMGs should be good for close combat and pistols should be completely silent unless using it on target in same room as other enemies.

There was definitely issue with bullet penetration in certain environments. You could shoot through thin walls or plan fences but certain plants and trash objects would be impenetrable. I was stopped by a bush or tree branch--you could even see bullet impact on those impenetrable surfaces in CB. If that is fixed for release, I will be happy with bullet penetration--basic but functional.

What about thicker walls or corners of thicker walls?

    Good post OP.

There was a video of someone showing off this very mechanic and yes, they do make bullet drop worse when they are ON.
