The following changes need to be made to For Honor:
- When you revive a player, they should only get 30% of their health back (not 100%)
- When you Parry + Guard Break, you should still be able to counter the guard break.
- When you feint an attack, it should take less stamina. (Currently it seems to take the same stamina as a normal attack)
The above changes would help but there is still a huge problem with defensive play currently.
- You can block every attack if you are skilled enough.
- You can Parry/Dodge every unblockable attack if you are skilled enough.
- You can counter all Guard Breaks if you are skill enough.
If you are skilled enough to block all attacks, Parry/Dodge the unblockables, and counter guard-breaks then you are invincible.
And I don't mean "You are better than who is attacking you". I mean you are invincible. (The timer will run out in a 1v1 before you are defeated, ending the game in a Tie)
A lot of people have been saying this is a Rock-Paper-Scissors game but it is NOT.
Lets say Rock-Paper-Scissors is Attack-Block-Guardbreak.
Block > Attack
Attack > Guard Break
Guard Break > Nothing (Can be countered 100% of the time, unless after a Parry)
For Honor is like playing Rock Paper Scissors, but without the Scissors. And if you are "too slow" to play your hand, you lose.
So if someone plays Rock (attacks) and you take too long to play Paper (Block/Parry/Dodge). Then you will lose the trade.
But as long as you play your hand, you win every time.
Attack - Block
Attack - Block
Feint/Attack - Block
Feint/Feint/Attack - Blocked
Feint/Guardbreak - countered
Feint/Attack - Blocked
Feint/Dodge/Guardbreak - countered
There is literally nothing you can do as long as they play their hand on time. (Unless you have an unblockable attack, which requires dodging or a Parry)
I don't know how they should fix this, but it needs to be fixed. It is game-breaking.
