Well.
The other heros can do things, that are even more annoying.
Sure. It is ugly, when your warden enemy cancels his shoulder bash into a GB but I guess the warden can do is, is because of the limited skillset.
I would trade this ability in a heartbeat, if we would get a pommel or hilt strike as a compensation. Maybe a short stun or disoriented effect.
The warden has one of the best (if not the best) skillsets out of all the characters in this open beta. It's also easy to use, with a very low risk and high reward type of play.Originally Posted by DrExtrem Go to original post
His zone attack is insane, easily the best in the game. Huge range, almost instantaneous, and a weird homing in component that lets you hit dodging or high range opponents. Add to that the really fast top light, with which they can threaten you that also gives you free damage on enemy top hits, and you get really good mixup melee potential.
And on top of that, you have his shoulder charge, which gives you virtual 50 / 50. If he gets you in a place where you can't dodge back, GG, it's guessing time. I'm fairly confident we will see some characters changed for release, and warden will be one of them. There is a reason all 1v1 ladder is full of prestige wardens.
Yeah ... Right.
The warden has literally the most basic moveset in the game. His shoulder bash is the only halfway sophisticated move. Should it be cancelable into a GB? Probably not. A half decent player, will read the wardens moves with ease and does not attack from above with heavies.
He has three attack chains, who are very simple. Light, light, heavy. Light, heavy. Heavy, heavy. Where is the problem here?
His only specialty here is that he can chain the two light attacks of the first chain, into a double strike.
One fast but obscenely expensive zone attack, wich does not deal much damage.
The crushing counterstrike id not even a real move - its "only" a counter.
Rushing slash is a opener and always comes from the same side.
The shoulder bash is indeed not that easy to counter at first but a light attack will break it and it can be avoided by a sidestep. This makes him very vulnerable to counter attacks. The mix up is just a continuation of the shoulder bash.
That's it. Nothing special. His heavy attacks are slow and can easily be punished
Compare that with the raiders or kensais skillset and tell.me, that the warden is op. Both have stuns, disorient effects, unblockables.
But yeah. I would like to see it go but the warden needs something in exchange. A pommel strike or something like that.
How many times did you play the open beta? 3 times? and you are crying about the warden... because how can you think the warden is overpowered if you will play more than 3 times... when it has less damange, less health, less speed, less range... he has not unblokable hits... I am sure you said warden it a easy character just because you have never played with him. Can you chain many hits together? Probably yes, but the final damange is the same (as long as you complete the combo) than any assasin just with one hit. Is that to be OP?
Warden is the most op char in the high level game due to his shoulder charge.
It cannot be punished and have no weaknessess, a move that force you to dodge and follow to smth that is GUARANTEED if you dodge (guardbreak). It is a OP move.
So the only way to be sure to avoid this is to roll back (but again he can full charge his shoulder charge) So u can't punish his fail (if he does one.)
What people need to realize is that complexity of move sets is not important. A lot of heroes can't utilize their complete move sets. What is important is how powerful each heroes viable options actually are. The warden might not have a wide range of tools, but the few good ones he has are incredibly powerful.
Compared to something like the berserker who might as well only have side dash attacks and guard break. His kit has NOTHING else that is actually viable. Infinite chain is asking to get parried and punished, the passive for attacking 4 times in a row will never get activated for that reason, both of his forward charging attacks are overhead and easy to avoid. At the very least he needs a dashing guard break. The ONLY thing you need to look out for against a berserker is spin chop. If you can deal with that and counter his guard breaks, he has literally nothing else.
The warden has plenty of tools in comparison
First, his shoulder charge cost to much stamina, so you can not spam it 2 times and atack so that is false, Second, you can dodge to one side too not jus roll back. Third, that´s shoulder charge is the only especial movement it has and this is not the best shoulder charge in game. What is the warden sacrificing for having the shoulder charge?Originally Posted by Funeraee Go to original post
This is very true. I was maining the berserker in the last 2 betas because I wanted to love that class. Fought the level 3 bot all 99 rounds practicing. It's fun coming at the newbies and overwhelming them with chain attacks and sometimes landing a big overhead smash that nearly one shots them, but once you start fighting people that know what a parry is, he becomes nearly useless.Originally Posted by YOGZULA Go to original post
