This is not meant as a whining post, but simply an honest account of what playing this game is like very often.
Logged on and within minutes found myself accosted by an axe man in a contaminated area, constantly knocked off my reload and unable to shoot. Tried to run and got staggered by the axe, even though I was outside the radius of his swing. Each stagger stopped my run so that he was able to hit me again. Eventually I hit my heal which deployed on the ground without healing me and I then got hit again and fell to my knees in the little green circle and died.
Five minutes later whilst clearing the car park in DZ04, exactly the same thing happened. Deployed a heal and I am standing in it as I go down without receiving any health from it whatsoever and have to get picked up by teammates. Later a teammate goes down, someone pops recovery link, everyone receives the special but it fails to pick the downed player up and someone has to revive him.
Shortly after this start engaging in PvP, get shot by a player at the extraction on the rooftop in DZ02. I drop a turret beside the player and get behind him in the ramp ready to engage. I get kicked from my party, other player starts running on the spot, I am unable to fire my gun, then get Delta'd.
Five minutes later a teammate also Deltas (we are getting wiped at this point being down a team member the whole time) and when he joins back on us we transfer servers. At this point he is in a safe house. The rest of us having just transferred decide to clear The Blockade whilst waiting for him. We clear it, I have a key so we open the box and collect the loot. We see a player and put down a support station and out of nowhere we get a 19 second timer. Not one of us shooting. No turrets, no seeker mines, only a support station down and our fourth member inside a safe house confirmed by the map.
We got wasted at point blank range by four players and lost everything in our bags as we died rogue. Logged off and went to play something else.
I realize some people may call BS on the last point but we have been noticing this happening a lot recently. Sometimes when battles are ongoing it is difficult to be 100% sure if it is a glitch or if someone hit a player with seekers or a stray bullet. However other times it is quite obvious that something else is in this game is just broken.
We went on to play over 2 hours on another well known mainstream online multi-player coop game without any similar issues whatsoever, so I highly doubt these issues are related to any individual players home network internet connection.
I have said this before but a patch dedicated to fixing existing gameplay should take priority over everything else at this stage.
mentioning seeker mines or turrets reminds me of last night. On this game for the first time in a long time, in the DZ for the weekly. Lots of PvP going on, and I thought about going to help take down some rogues. Then I remembered that if I so much as accidentally shoot a non-rogue, or they are in the blast radius of seekers, or get in front of my turret, then I would go rogue.
So, I said hell with it and just kept killing rikers.
This is one of many of the flaws with the dark zone and why PVP never worked in this game and that is all the possibilities of friendly fire of any kind and also why PVP isn't really any fun. I think blizzard did it best and why having factions in the game made PVP work weather you were in the PVE environment or went into one of the many PVP arenas in the game. I think having certain places in the game that would auto flag you for PVP such as the apposing factions towns or area's was such a great idea.
This aloud the game to have more dangerous places to do quest but also safe area's along with have NPC factions that could be friendly or enemies also in the game. In the end if it was my game this is the model i would have followed and made more sense allowing players to be one of several division agent factions or good guys if you will or allowing players to be one of the LMB factions. Then in the dark zone there wouldn't be such a thing as friendly fire because you wouldn't be aloud to attack your own faction and only the enemy factions.
We could then also have had NPC factions that were either friendly or non friendly allowing players to earn reputation with these factions through quest, killing or supply turn ins and more making the game so much deeper. Its such a shame that the developers vision for this game was so utterly simplistic giving the story,PVP and more no real substance and why the whole game is so very repetitive leaving them no where to go and adding different styles of PVP outside of just going rogue on other agents but whats done is done and why this game dies out so long ago.
I understand everyone's expectations are different, and likewise what one finds fun might not work for others. However when I saw the thread's title I knew it'd be a thread complaining about DZ related stuff... I was right.
The DZ is by a country mile the most unique thing in this game. A lot of its mechanics, such as the rogue system, friendly fire and those 19 seconds timers, cutting the rope.... are a blast for those who embrace the concept. In comes 1.6 in no time with LS, looks cool and decidedly a worthy addition, specially for tight teams.
Myself I would loathe for TD to go mainstream, castrate the DZ and have CTF, LMS, Domination and variations thereof as the only PVP. Other games, specially TF for my money already do that incredibly well.
TD DZ is different. Once 1.6 releases we'll have again a clear picture of how fine that difference seats with players, the result of which will determine how beefy future support is as we head inevitably for TD2 in 18 months or so (wild guess here folks).
As ever I'd like MORE PVE and PVP content, but even though not everything has worked for me, we have received a metric ton of content in a year. More content has to be financed and this game is subscription-less.
Just my opinion OFC.
Ok i had to quote this because for me this is the biggest problem in gaming today having players who think the division was a home run and that we have already received a ton of content to date. This couldn't be further from the truth because the developers didn't even release a finished product. What they delivered was rushed, broken and completely unfinished as instead of creating very unique and well thought out story and missions was just copy and pasted regurgitated content where everyone says the same thing, every missions is doing the same thing and there was only enough PVE content to last 17 hours to complete every side mission and main mission once.Originally Posted by LepantoESP Go to original post
They then gave us the underground that was a measly 6 unique maps that you run forwards and backwards because that was the best they could do, then we got a whopping 3 incursions that take 20 minutes to run and complete. The fact is everything they have delivered has been the bear minimum of effort, i mean survival? All they did there was add the few features needed to what already existed and called it a day. So im sorry you feel the complete opposite but i want the old days back when developers produced game that gave you 150+ hours of unique content, where story is thought through and deliver something fresh.
The division was fresh in a sense right up until they dropped the ball, UBIsoft has billions of dollars are there disposal and yet we get a game like this that could have been something so epic without being a monthly subscription but honestly i would have preferred that because then they would have to deliver a real game and a finished product because otherwise people wouldn't plat or pay. I mean now as far as the DZ go's i dont hate it i just would have liked it alot more if they added playable factions and also had arena's too along with the DZ to break things up because the DZ really is only fun for a little while but by now has long since became boring and no longer fills that thrill anymore because its just old and stale.
I just fear though the more players like you is only going to lead to more games like this and siege because now UBIsoft knows they dont have to work hard and deliver more then 20 or 30 hours of playable content or less and people will call it a great game. I mean siege has 14 maps, seriously when did 14 playable maps become a 60 buck title with only one more coming in the next DLC. I mean the first ghost recon game launched with 30 maps and also allowed you to create maps to play too. So in that time we have cut the maps in 1/2, completely cut out the story all together and slapped a 60 buck price tag on it and fans raved at a game that had almost nothing and this is killing games completely, if your going to cut the content then cut the price or deliver a respectable amount of content FFS.
If one looks at all the gameplay balances, map expansions. They have been implemented with PvP in mind. Till now, the devs have steadfastly refused to address the lackluster LZ. We can only conclude that Division endgame IS PvP.
Took me quite a while to admit it, but Division isn't meant for causal players with questing and exploration in mind. It's just a numbing process of grinding for loot with zero narrative. Maybe year 2 will improve it somewhat. Meanwhile I am shelving Division for Elder Scrolls : Online that I bought on Steam for 50% discount.
On the other side of the coin, what the crowd who demanded for a "structured and fair PvP arena" ended up presenting us yet another mainstream stomping crowd, complete with its rage quitters and being met with further attempts at enforcing people to play in an environment they don't want, except by a completely different party or side of the argument.
Because it's justified to force people to stick in a match where your team either flat out sucks or is at least outmatched and just wait 10 minutes to finally "formally" lose, but it's not justified to die a few times in the DZ and simply look for another fight or challenge. Right?
This is just the level of hypocrisy and irrationality that I expected from the entitled generation. And by generation I do not band people of specific ages into the group, because TBH the ability to distinguish these issues comes with experience and playtime and not with age. Hence the uncontrollable cringe I get when people cite that the DZ caters to the "testosterone" and "hormonal" teenagers.
Suck it up and get good. It's literally what games are about.
After I ate 15 I have to go to the store to buy a new jar of pickles.Originally Posted by mckrackin5324 Go to original post
I likely pick the brand with better brine too if I find them.
I might be tempted by a lid that gives me less hassle.
This is exactly it, you hit the nail on the head but some people who defend the division as a home run hit with very little flaws are the ones who also completely ignore what is right in front of them. The ones that see the flaws have been questioning the developers and asking for answers that they will never give because they too as the makers of the game are blind. The second time i had to turn on and upload the virus information side mission i knew i was in trouble and this game wasn't going to deliver.Originally Posted by mckrackin5324 Go to original post
When we found the lost girlfriend playing the piano and there was no dialog from her and it just simply finished the mission with nothing said i knew the game wasn't finished. I've directly asked the developers during one of there many streams why 75% of the side missions are just a copy/paste doing the same thing i was ignored. When i asked why there is always a guy in every safe house saying my back is messed up i need some meds instead of have unique chatter in every safe house i was again ignored.
It really bugs me too because if i was a lead director/developer i would engage my gamer's and answer there questions and if nothing else defend my product and vision for my game for better or worse. Its not that i feel im entitled to answers despite sounding like it, i just think most developers are wimps because they must be too scared to answer and defend the division and there vision for it. This is why i get so upset though because they want us to accept less and less content in games and still pay full price for it and that just sucks. If they promoted the division as being a major PVP style game with a side of story i know i wouldn't have bought it but instead they promoted it as being this massive game with this huge story.
They flat out lied to a degree with alot of smoke and mirrors of what this game was knowing that in the end it wasn't going to deliver because clearly the game shows you they were rushed. They knew that they didn't have the time to develop what this game deserved to be and were forced to create a game that was so blindly mundane with having you do the same side missions over and over and only produced less then 20 hours of playable unique content.
Now like you said instead of making fresh new content they just slap a heroic difficulty and then pat themselves on the back and say great job guys the gamer's are going to love this brand new content. In the end they made a game that was going to require the least amount of work because the Dark Zone and PVP is there end game, its go into the dark zone and go rogue while killing NPC's and enjoy this spectacular end game content to get new gear that's useless because there is no content for that gear. Its like they don't get the concept of what makes a good game, what makes farming gear fun, they just think there game is awesome despite having no idea how to do it right. I mean look at world of warcraft, every time new gear comes out it comes with fresh content that requires new gear to defeat and that makes sense.
When they add a heroic mode it has a real reason and that's to get slightly better gear so you can go over to the new raid zone have that little extra advantage to beating it. The only purpose the gear serves in this game is if your really into PVP and the dark zone, its why i stopped playing because i was getting gear i didnt need because there was no PVE content or new content where i needed this better gear to defeat. If the harder versions of this mission or incursion or whatever gave you gear that was slightly better then what you would get in a lower difficulty instead of just giving you more or less of the gear that it would make some sense but they couldn't get that right either.
I just wished the developers weren't so wimpy and would just say we get it, we get what many players want from the division but guess what were not going to give it to you, tell us this game is always going to focus on PVP. If they did that i could at least have some respect for them but they wont, there too scared and thats sad when they wont even defend there own game. When they can go on these streams acting so smugly about how awesome there game is and how awesome all this brand new content is when its not new content and act like they have never read a single post on here.
I mean if i was them id be somewhat broken after reading these forums because when enough people tell you how bad your game is and why its so bad it would finally get to me a little bit. If they dont read the forums ever then not only are they out of there league as developers but there also stupid because they think there so smart they dont need input but ill let you be the judge of that.
