100% Agreed, the powerups ENTICE people to play like ****s and run around to buff up to have a moronic advantage over you just so they can win. Ubisoft has COMPLETELY underestimated the scumminess of Humans. You give them a hand, they'll take your whole ****ing arm off - because they can, and because they want to win - even if it's Dishonorable or cheap. Competitive games draw a dangerous line wherein you have to ensure balance exists and there's no Benefit for being cheap or obnoxious.
Rewarding obnoxious behaviour will only spread the Cancer. The game 'For Honor' is already full of people with Very very very little amounts of 'Honor'.
The gear system is trash and should be completely cosmetic. I can handle getting jumped I'm use to that, but getting 1 or 2 shot like you're a minion/soldier? come on. The 4v4 modes are a joke. Also get rid of revenge mode, how do you block 3 hits at the start of a fight and pop revenge? -_- Once gear stats come into play, teamwork and skill takes a back seat. More so skill. Let's not even discuss the guard break mechanic -_-
I think it's really more of the speed at which the powerup can be picked up. Even if you're RIGHT on someone's tail chances are they'll get the powerup before you can do anything about it. If the timing on the pickup were more like skirmish (which feels like it's about 50% longer to pick them up) I think that would alleviate a lot of the issues with the power ups. There is just no downside to running because you know 99% of the time you're going to be able to get the powerup before your opponent can do a damn thing about it.
