Hi,
After playing in the closed alpha, technical test, closed beta and now the open beta. I have a few things to say about for honor.
Just to clear things up, I am an avid orochi player; I have only tried a few other hero's but never got rep 1 with them. I'm going to walk through the subtle changes on orochi and not so subtle, as well as some gameplay elements I like, dont like, think should be implemented. I'm also going to touch base on the party system, servers and other characters.
Orochi Related
During Alpha:
My friend invited me to the closed alpha and it was then that I fell in love with for honor and orochi. In the alpha, you were able to deflect under an incoming attack by just tapping the direction and yes, it was too overpowered. I didn't have enough time to practice it but looking back on it now I see why they changed it.
During Technical test and closed beta:
I was actually invited to this one and played almost every day. I first noticed the change said before but I was okay with it. It was for the better. There wasn't many changes for orochi in the closed beta
During open Beta:
This is where I have a problem. Now, its either I'm crazy but the speed of orochi has been slowed. I say this because you used to be able to chain a storm rush with 2 uplights right after eachother but a hero can block against the 2 lights now. Its possible that staggering has been reduced. I also noticed another big thing. dodging is not as effective as it used to be, as a counter attacker and someone who relies on dodging to execute my only non-blockable move, I've noticed that you cant dodge for sh!t if the hero is chaining light attacks.
In general:
I find orochi to not live up to being an "agile" hero or even the counter attacker his description says. Now, I'm not all complaints, I'll provide a few suggestions at the end but I want to get through all these problems first.
Other Hero Related
Block all direction:
Okay, I didnt have much of a problem with this before but seeing it spammed by almost every hero I come across, I'm starting to see the flaw in it. With almost no penalty for doing this, fighting anyone who can do it becomes just a spam guard break and hope you can end the fight as fast as you can with an environment kill.
Poison:
This was one I noticed in the closed beta. If a good assassin or nobushi was able to hit me with their poison it was pretty much game over if they could do it a 2nd time. of all things I expected to get a nerf, this was not one.
Other small things
Contract orders:
I think there should be more contract orders or increase the difficulty of them by 10x. often, I'll work towards completing these orders but I'll finish them in no time.
Party system:
In the closed beta, the party system was perfect, It worked exactly how it should have. Now in the open beta, you get randomly kicked from games and removed from your party when backing out sometimes.
Possible solutions
Orochi:
While I do agree that orochi was most likely the most used hero because of his speed, I still dont think he should play any different. I'm suggesting reverting everything back, I do think he needs a nerf just not in the area's you applied it. I would suggest a large damage reduction but a small reduction for the un-blockable moves since they are good punishers for a mess up by the opponent or the orochi should he miss the counter.
All block:
I feel very strongly that the all block should work very much like one of the aoe attacks by any champion since it covers a large area and very useful. I personally think the all block should not be able to be held down but a reflex move that takes away 25% of the hero's max stamina. The block should last any where from 1-2 seconds.
Poison:
there isn't much I can say about this one besides giving it a straight nerf. Poison should either A) be reduced in general. or B) reduce the time it takes poison to take effect allowing the player a longer amount of time to either escape or fight.
Party system:
I would love if I could use steam to invite my friends but that is besides the point. It becomes painful to play with friends because the party system doesn't work 100%. I personally think that user experience should be notch on before expanding the game any further. If you have the best software in the world but nobody know's how to use it, nobody is going to use it.
Contract orders:
I think contract orders should be more difficult to complete. They motivate me to play the game more, without them I don't feel like I'm accomplishing much when playing for honor besides increasing my hero level. I also feel there should be more contract orders available to the player with this difficulty increase
I'd like to thank who ever took the time to read all that. These are just suggestions I have and don't expect them to make it to the final product. I really do enjoy playing this game and want to see it reach its full potential
