Are We Not Going to Acknowledge How Bad Berserker Is?

I have been playing Berseker for 5 hours now, and I have found no reason at all to call him anything close to a good character. The entire premise of getting many attacks off to start your infinites is impossible when literally all of your attacks getting parried means losing half your health. There is no safe way to approach as Berserker, as anyone with 2 brain cells can see his guard break coming from a mile away, and when you do get it, all you are guaranteed is a light attack. Meanwhile when you finally attempt to attack, when people inevitably parry you you are guaranteed to get hit by a heavy attack.

I know you you guys are saying, "Why not just feint?" It's because feints are not that fast and are just as easily countered as a guard break, and when people who don't already know that your character gets countered by the simplest thing in the game play you, they quickly learn how much your character sucks and start reading your feints from a mile away. I get how this character can destroy new players who don't know how to parry, but once the person you play against learns this stupid technique they will parry you into guard break/heavy attack every time.

I will not purchase this game if these glaring errors go unfixed.

Yeah feinting is a bit lack luster for him in my opinion it's only effective once and that's if you throw a guard break in that doesn't get countered. If his light attack was at least as fast as the orochis it wouldn't be so bad but. Yeah just basic block his chains then attack and you'll win.

I don't want to sound offensive, but I don't think you really got him figured out so far. Are those five hours your first shot at For Honor? Berserker is marked as a difficult hero, and to play him to full potential isn't as easy as with other characters. I already have around a 100 hours into this game over the last three betas, and I picked him up yesterday. I started a custom 1on1, no time limit, no damage, and took him to town. That's actually a very good way to test out new movesets, by the way.
For example, best way to guardbreak with him is actually deflecting an enemy attack. Guaranteed guardbreak and a good way to start off a combo. You do that by dodging very late into an enemy attack. Hard to pull off, but nearly guaranteed to give you a good start into a chain.
That said, do you know the infinite chain? It's light attack, heavy attack, light attack and so on. That's one thing you should practice. There's a lot of variations also, like swapping into a heavy combo, feinting into a dodge and so on. Most of this is explained in the Moveset, the How to play videos or the awesome berserk guide pinned in the in the Vikings strategy forum.
A good example for feint: Start a Heavy attack for example in right stance, dodge to your left, start a combo by light attacking at the end of that dodge.

I'm happy to do some sparring with you if you still think the berserker is bad, or if you wanna try some things.

Yeah I mained him thru alpha and closed beta, he is the weakest assassin. The orochi is also supposed to be hard but its not hard to play or do well with him. His moves are lack luster and the guard break from parry isnt long enough to get a light attack if the person is paying attention its only effective if you punch them away. Dodging to the side is the only viable option for a easy guard break but you have to get the direction down. 1v1 him against the other assassins and you'll see what we are talking about. Not that i doubt your skill, I just know this character and the assassins in general and he cant match up evenly with either. If your on xbox and want to spar im down tho. It's so rare to get a 1v1 against a zerk its always pk, orochi, or nobushi.

Sorry mate, playing on PC here :/
Let's wait a few weeks. I could bet the Berserker won't be seen as a weak character then, although an underdog, maybe.

You get a free side heavy after guard break. Unless enough lag is involved.
And you get a top heavy if you guard break push into a wall/object.
Don't buff berserker, tone down other assassins.

The berserker can be s mean enemy.

If you specialise on fast attack chains, it is nearly impossible to recover from you constant staggering. Is it interesting to play? I guess not. Is it working? Oh yes. If the enemy can not recover fast enoug,h from you fast attacks to to reassign the guard position, its GG.

But that holds true for the kensai, nobushi and pk as well.

I have been playing as the berserker for around the same amount of time. I completely agree with you. I would also like to add that the berserker needs an unbreakable attack that can be triggered by a combo of buttons just like every other warrior. It is not fair that the berserker has to hit them 4 times before he is unsociable, because you WILL be parried without a problem. His guard breaks need to last longer too so you can get at least a free heavy attack.

I guess... the problem is no the Berseker, the problem is that all of you are comparing the berseker with the other two assasins that are really op.

Played Berserker to lvl 19. Still getting wrecked by every Warden with brain. Started playing Warden 1 hour ago. Wrecking all as a noob Warden. Balance? No. Parry + Guard Breaks into attack. What a no-brainer.
