lets us select how many ai team memebers while solo

it would be cool if we could select how many ai team memebers we have while solo. heres the thing. if we go into a province that is higher rank than we are we have to run at least one ai member. the higher we go over our rank the more is required. also there might be a mission in our are where we can run solo but that mission is a little complex so we have to run an ai member. idk just a thought/suggestion.

Honestly, if they don't improve the team AI by a wide margin, I'd rather the option to kick them aside entirely.

They just get in the way.

They just kept getting spotted, totally useless.

They make no effort to remain hidden, or to cover during firefights. I can't position them precisely or separately, they just move in a massive, awkward blob. I can't order them to strike from stealth without sync-shots, which only works every 30 seconds, and is a waste if I only need one man removed. They can't even path correctly and will happily run through the middle of a camp if ordered to the other side of it, rather than going around.

I'd rather eat my boot than play with this AI again.

I'm not sure why the tactical shooter genre has gotten so far from the micro-management focus that existed in games like Rainbow Six 1 in 1998 and Original Ghost Recon in 2001. Why cant I select how many soldiers are on my team? Why cant I soul swap for direct control? Why cant I set way points and ROE? Why can't I have multiple teams that I can order via command map, so I can tackle multiple objectives at once?

I'm so confused as to why game developers stopped doing this

I honestly have no idea. There isn't an up-side to gutting player control, so why they did it is utterly a mystery.

The easy explanation Pollie would be to make the game more accessible to a wider audience. It's sad, but it's time to face the music. Tactical gamers are a niche community and not large enough population to turn a profit.

Even among casual players, I know people who would want the extra control. It's a design decision that doesn't hold any sort of water and falls apart under any sort of scrutiny.
