Since it requires Uplay anyway, are there any good reasons to buy it on Steam? With the Uplay-only-version you don't depend on Steam additionally that might be down every now and then.

Anyway, I preordered the Gold version on Steam and now I cancelled my order. That might be one advantage for Steam. Don't know about Ubi's refund policy.

But having been playing the closed and open beta now, it turned out, that it isn't the actual game I was looking forward for two years :-/ Maybe I will buy the game when the prize has dropped (certainly not more than the basic version)... if there are enough players left and the game isn't dead then.
