Lol. I'd always cringe hearing that over the radio. "Welp, there goes that.. sigh"Originally Posted by Wastedyuthe Go to original post
What seems to be happening, unfortunately, is that the devs actually built the game FOR Coop. This has been said many times over on Youtube by reporters and players. that the game only really works in Coop.
This is terribly heart-breaking for the so many people who have been waiting to play this and don't necessarily want to play Coop all the time. Write my words, on day one, Gamespot and IGN are both gonna say the exact same thing: you shouldn't have to pay 60 bucks for a game that ONLY works if you are playing it with three other people.
I know they've made the drop in drop out system easy, but that's not the point. Some people just want to immerse themselves in the story and the place without other players, at least not all the time. I mean, for my part I was hoping to catch up with friends once in a blue moon, but be impeded to play because they're not home?!
Personally it breaks my heart because I'm such a huge fan of GR, I was so excited about the concept of a Ghost Recon you could play on an open world! I haven't unninstalled MGSV since it came out, waiting for this game, and now to find out they paid so little attention to the Solo experience is just disheartening.
Lack of customization for AI Squaddies, Terrible AI AI (lol), Shallow command structure, innability to leave sqauddies at base, these all spell out one single thing: the devs have made it impossible to bond with and appreciate your AI squad mates, which along with being forced to be with them all the time, seems to me to make it impossible to enjoy the game in Solo.
We've been campaigning for AI customization on a couple other threads, because that's what I figured was viable to ask for at this point (complexifying command structure doesn't seems like a one month job to me), and I STILL BELIEVE that the AI will be fixed, since it's a more serious underlying issue. But if those things don't get punched up A LOT and QUICKLY, we'll have to wait another 4 years for GR we can love. :'(
They are pretty useless and it makes any tactical plan you had fail. WE are supposed to be the ones in control, they shouldn't make any decisions without our direct orders. You may as well just approach every base, sit back and let them do the work if that's the case. There's no need for any planning, no need to implicate any tactics, no need to go in stealth, no need to take your time as pretty much every time it gets ruined by these dou**e bagsOriginally Posted by Mattactic Go to original post
Sometimes I just can't get my head around how these guys think. They didn't want us to micro-manage our team but this is what I (and I'm sure quite a few others) DO want. I want to feel like I'm 'the boss' and my team listens to me and does what I say when I say. We're supposed to be an elite group of soldiers, what other soldiers on the whole planet disobey direct orders?Originally Posted by Keltimus Go to original post
You're right though, we are doing double the work, you tell them to 'hold' they sit there for a bit but then decide to follow you like sheep. You can see one of them is going to make a really bad move so you have to stop what you're doing and give the 'hold' command again. This breaks immersion, I was actually concentrating on the job in hand before you idiots starting creeping where I didn't want you to be. Stay where you are ffs, I didn't say for you to do anything and now you've broken my cover and wrecked my plan, again.
I miss the days of classic SOCOM I & II when there were plenty of orders to be given, you can give the order via voice command, and the AI carries them out more precisely. Not to mention if you were taking hits, even under Hold Fire, your AI teammate would still cover you without giving the an open fire command. I am baffled because that was PS2 era gaming. How is it that 2 console generations later, there hasn't been anything equal to or better than that?
Dude... Make it stop LOL LOL LOLOriginally Posted by Wastedyuthe Go to original post
Tell me that you have video of all of this and I would gladly give you my money because I am sure that watching these bloopers is going to be more fun than playing the game as is now.
And to think that this was 16 years ago and with a lot more limited resources.Originally Posted by TaxingUnicorn Go to original post
And unfortunately there will never be if we continue to accept what we get every time there is a release just because we are so shallow that we must play the game. We convince ourselves that even though it is not what we really want it is after all still fun to play it.Originally Posted by Keltimus Go to original post
If these dev's are supposedly massive fans of the GR series and gamers at heart as they say.....why would you destroy one of its core elements of Ghost Recon? I can't wrap my head around why they do things like this.
GR is meant to be a tactical game and let you have full use of your squad, not only as a team but as individuals. Not dumbed down to appeal to the masses, keep that crap for the division. Rainbow six, Splinter cell and GR were the best games when I was growing up because you had to use your brain to get the job done. And you felt like crap if one of your team members got shot....in Wildlands i'm ok with them going down, because they do stupid **** or i have no other choice but to blob all 3 of them together in one spot.
i've seen some places reporting today that the open beta has a date set for 2-5th of March. that's almost on release date and if they were to have feedback from that beta it's way to close to change anything....so it has to be a stress test.
Fingers crossed they've changed a lot of things by the time that open beta hits
