    Beta Feedback - AI Team

Firstly, thoroughly enjoyed the open world approach to this game, being able to do what i want when i want is awesome. The environment is fantastic and it looks absolutely stunning. The different type of regions is truly an experience, can see a lot of work has been put into it and I enjoyed the beta overall.

My Biggest gripe with the game is our Ghost Team. This is coming from someone that has played since the first GR and like to play single player.

    CLOTHING CUSTOMIZATION
This is a must have feature. As It's been said by many others here on the forums. It completely breaks the immersion if i'm decked out in military gear and camo's (Some pants and tops are completely different shades) with a helmet and my team mates are running around in Casual Friday at work clothes eg. the one guy with a striped face bandanna looks ridiculous. I have no complaints about the team members themselves and their gender and hairstyle. But we should be given this option, It's gonna feel a bit odd if i'm running up a snow covered mountain with a beanie and fleece and they're just chilling in a t shirt.

    WEAPON CUSTOMIZATION
In the Previous games we had the option to choose what weapons our team used. Especially in the GRAW series. Don't mind if it's not full gunsmith etc. But the option to have two snipers or all assault rifles would be awesome.

    TACTICS / ORDER WHEEL
Hate to say this but the Team felt really dumb AI wise. I would tell them to go to the right side of a village to flank during my stealth approach and they would run right through the village and alert the cartel straight away. They seemed to make no effort to sneak past anyone or flank.
This is where i believe a waypoint system would be very handy. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to implement. Or they could at least stealth kill the guy that's about to detect them.
A Breach and Clear option would be handy as well (the radio tower missions) ...i mean rainbow six has had this for years.

In the earlier Ghost Recon series we could individually order team mates around and it was really handy. Could put my Sniper in a certain position to cover me from above or on a hilltop outside a village. Or have each team member flank and meet in the middle in a pincer like approach. Watch a certain direction.
This option would be really handy, especially on the Harder Difficulties.

I'd add in AI flying helicopters so i can sit on the mini gun but there seems to be enough problems with helicopter controls and lack of reticle for the little bird guns.

    .

I agree completely with everything on your post, especially this. Just ruins the experience and immersion for me.

Good stuff. Good to see this stuff reiterated.

This is a big deal as I remember at least two incidents where I was ready to kill my AI teamates(if possible):
First, while sneaking into the Unidad base, my AI teammates and I managed to make it to the top of the large building(where the boss is typically located). I ordered them to hold position next to the tv so I could recon the base. EVREYTIME they would rally near the tv as ordered, then seconds later start wondering off to the lower floors. This happened 3 or 4 times. "What the F?!" If they are ordered to hold position, they need to take a knee; or at least stay in the common room.
Secondly, during a night mission I was attempting to sneak up on a group of cartel. I decided to approach from a field with long grass while completely prone. Low and behold, Midas runs past me and starts "engaging targets". I tried the mission again in the same manner hoping it was coincidence but had the same result. It seemed as soon as the AI got within a certain distance from the target they would automatically "go hot" and start engaging, so the only solution is to force them to hold position back a ways, and hope they don't wonder forward. If I'm in stealth and haven't started engaging targets, the AI HAS to be smart enough to hold fire as well and not run ahead of the player. Ideally if I am prone, they're prone until I initiate the firefight. Also, AI should not have to be told to hold back during a stealth approach IMO. Otherwise I believe we need a more complex command interface for sure.

Did anyone else have similar struggle with the AI spoiling stealth approach without being micromanaged or held back?

Yeah that happened to me all the time. i'd tell them to move to a position and then when they'd get there they'd just wander off and do their own thing after about 20 seconds.....and it was a massive dispersion. Or they wouldn't even attempt to hide and find cover. They've had multiple ghost games to use the AI from, i can't work out why these suck?

there needs to be a fire on my lead command.
And the one in future soldier where when you were in combat you could mark priority targets.

The friendly ai feels like a rushed development unfortunately the amount of times I was flanked by enemies that run straight through the team while they just sit there

Don't mean to keep complaining, but it seems with the current state of the AI they are mainly good for two things:
1: For tactical gameplay, constant directive. In other words, utilizing them only to perform specific tasks under severe supervision (i.e. "Go there, hold, sync shot, regroup, hold")
2: Means of revival. So when you're in a fight, you really can't count on them to watch your back, cover fire, crossfire, center peel(https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Center_peel), or even chauffeur you outta there; however, you can be sure they will be there to revive you should you go down. Someone likened them to a "get out of jail card"... I like it.

Point is, like the OP said, unfortunately the team AI currently seems rather dumb when left to there own. I'm really looking forward to the solo experience, so I hope the devs are polishing in that area.

I found the team to be incredibly frustrating at times. There were many situations after giving the 'hold' command that they still advanced and did their own thing, they disrupted camps, made far too much noise (parkour over walls onto corrugated metal sheets while I was making a stealth approach) giving out annoying and repetitive radio speak, telling me things I already knew, telling me 'bad guy over there, by that stack of tires' - what stack of tires where?! Running around in their casual clothing while I was dressed as some sort of black hoodied assassin. They don't listen, don't adhere to commands, didn't 'go there' when being given the order to do so, being stood up while I was kneeling down, making their own approach into an area without following my play style, not equipping the same type of equipment I had, oblivious to tactics the list goes on.... The AI is really poor and seemed dumber than a bag of bricks

Yeah I posted my AI team complaints when the beta finished, but I'll say it again here too. They are ridiculously stupid and have ruined a good few missions just in the two days I played.
I'd already failed the helicopter mission once through my own fault. On my second attempt, I was at one entrance trying to mark enemies, and there goes one of my team mates JUMPING IN to the compound over the wall in front of me! And he then ducks behind a part I know one enemy soldier patrols past. So I then have to order them to park their butts behind me. When I crept round the back wall to the gap, I ordered them to stay in a spot behind me. I'm marking more enemies with my sniper rifle and planning my attack. Suddenly one of my team runs INTO the compound, says "I'm opening fire on these f***ers" and starts a firefight. Meanwhile the enemy dude gets in the heli and flies off - mission failed! ARGHHHHH!!!!
The mission where you steal the car, I was creeping around the outside, and one of my team decided to come to my location via the middle of the compound through the enemies! They saw him and opened fire. They then for some reason knew exactly where I was. Two of my team got downed. Then I did. Luckily the one remaining one got me back up, and I finished the mission. But heck we must have looked like the Three Stooges +1 to the enemies.
The other time was when I had shot the tower guards at the Unidad base, and was lying prone on my drone outside the base, trying to mark enemies. Lo and behold, I see a lone blue icon among the orange. One of my team decided to go the long way round to get to where I am - instead of just walking to me from one corner to the next entrance corner, he had made his way into the base, snuck through the barracks, around to the entrance, and climbs out to join me! Unbelievable.

They should ALWAYS follow the player, not go ahead of them. They should ALWAYS follow orders, instead of moving away when told to hold where they are. And most importantly, they should NOT enter an enemy compound before the player does and ruin the mission!

+1 agree with everything everyone has said in this thread thus far.

Honestly, as far as AI control goes, just copy and paste the command system from original ghost recon, while it's not perfect, it is MUCH better than what we have currently
