Hello all:
I realize that in all likelihood this could purely be a coincidental occurrence for me, but as I saw others having issues with xbox controllers on windows and I figured I may as well post here to find out if I'm the only one or not.
I was playing the For Honor beta on Xbox One and my controller ran out of batteries. I plugged it in and it became possessed. This is a brand new controller little over a month old which I purchased only because they have headphone jacks now and the original releases didn't (IE, I don't break my ****. My other controllers are fine, if a bit dusty)
Heres what happened:
(primary references the one that first bugged out, secondary refers to the old one I got to work after)
-It took many attempts of trying to plug into the primary controller, its rechargeable battery pack, or both to get it to turn back on for the first time after it had died.
-When turned on, it automatically went into sync mode and was unresponsive. Pressing the sync button on the xbox had no effect.
-I unplugged my xbox for maybe 10 minutes multiple times.
-By cycling the power on and off on the primary controller and the console multiple times I got the controller to become somewhat responsive, but it allows for only a couple of delayed control inputs (two or three) before it starts behaving seemingly of its own will. It seems to multi-press whichever input I last registered before it goes haywire.
-I got one of my old controllers (secondary) out, powered it up and at first it was unresponsive. I powered down my console again, and then was able to turn the xbox on by pressing the home button on this backup controller.
-I connected the primary controller to my console via USB and navigated to the settings with the secondary, where the first appeared in the accessories listing, but would not allow any update to the controller, saying that it is up to date.
-This primary controller cannot manually initiate the pairing sequence (flashing light) and remains unresponsive/ angry at me.
Again, this controller was purchased just in November after Titanfall 2 released because my gf bought me a turtle beach headset that needed aux input.
I very well understand the general unlikelihood of a software install causing a core peripheral hardware issue, but hey you never know.
Anyone else experience anything similar or have any troubleshooting advice?
-Z
