As I have seen with this now larger stress test (double the closed beta) I have disconnected from 9 out of 10 games due to poor hosts and most games i remain in I end with completely different team mates
This game will not survive long if it starts with peer to peer
I think so, too, which would be a real shame... I got interested in the game and got the obt client. I was extremely open to accept p2p, but game behavior brutally woke me up to that notion. I have excellent internet and excellent ping regarding dozens of multiplayer games. My connection isn't iffy. So, it's not me.
I had some very smooth matches in for honor... against AI and duels. As soon as ventured towards trying dominion, I realized the blunt reality of for honor's p2p system. This is worse than witnessing a 3v3 quake match hosted by a dial up 486. I mean, I gave them benefit of the doubt, I really did. I thought, ok, not many players, small areas etc. But not only the sustainability is horrible, the way player experiences the game is horrible as well, even when there are no major hiccups. A player (presumably host?) leaves? Ok, let's freeze everything for ten years. Twelve times. Of course, then others start leaving. So it goes in circles. And then the client goes into non-interactive buffering and you alt-f4.
I don't think the obt/stress argument stands in this case. This seems to have nothing to do with that, but rather with inherent structure that was chosen for the game's multiplayer. It wasn't laggy... when it worked. I wasn't kicked from the official login servers. It's the sheer anarchy of p2p in a random queue environment.
On a side note, what's with the "low activity" in every mode, for the whole day? When I queue for anything that's not a quick match, it takes forever and all settings "degrade" in order to find someone (settings as in region strictness, skill strictness etc)...
Again, it's not me, I am pretty sure. And I doubt the player count is low.
that bugs me as wellOriginally Posted by DoolioJBM Go to original post
Same as you I have disconnected from a number of games and it usually comes up with having problems connecting to servers at the end. Teleporting players(who are apparently the host) going on godlike kills streaks because nobody can kill them, or half your team disappearing after a screen freeze is getting ridiculous.
Connection wasn't great on the Alpha, but no problems it was an Alpha. On the closed Beta I was surprised to find the connectivity was worse. Now we are on the open Beta and it has gone down hill again. with the game coming out on Tuesday, I can't see them doing much to fix it (and if the trend continues nobody will be able to connect anyway).
It's a great game, but if you can't play it then it is going to fail.
I honestly can't believe that an online competitive game is coming out as P2P in 2017 from a AAA developer. It's embarrassing. The game should have it's price cut down to about $15 for that.Originally Posted by SirAHarris Go to original post
Yeah i agree, the Alpha had very few connection problems, but with the Beta and the Open Beta, i been kicked out of half the games that weren't duels or brawls. Even duels and brawls has the occasional kick, which never happened in the Alpha, or even the Closed Beta. This game will not survive if its not fixed. I was definitely going to buy the game, but now I'm going to take a wait and see approach to see if these things are resolved.
