Locked out of english localization
Well, the topic says it. Please, hear me out.
I played closed beta and open beta (and plan to keep playing in case my issue gets resolved), both times in english.
Now, I am really hyped up about the game and impressed enough to actually make a preorder, but there is the bummer: in my region I'm not only not offered an english localization, I'm not even allowed to activate an "international" key (huh, not so international anymore?).
First part of a problem normally can be solved by buying an international key from retailer for full price instead of cheaper CIS key in ubishop/wherever, which I am totally fine with. Yes, it could have been offered by ubisoft in first place as an option or dlc to unlock english localization to avoid abuse of lower regional prices; no, it's not a thing for whatever reason; yes, it is something I personally can live with.
Second part though is something new. Why am I dictated what language I can buy my game in? In past I had an option - pay less for only russian localization, or pay more for international version with english. It was up to me how I choose to spend my money. But now the tables have turned, and apparently I have no right to choose in what language I want to buy a game, now it's either "you buy it in language ubisoft says" or "you don't buy it". And I don't want to use VPN, or ask my UK/outside CIS friends to make an account for me and to buy it just to be able to play in english, I just want to buy and play the game in language I want.
And so it does come down to either having to buy an awesome game in language you don't like or want, or having to pass on it just because publisher decided they know better what language you speak or prefer.
A few clarifications:
1) No, I'm not asking to get a game with english locale at the CIS price. It is abusable. What I want is an option to buy international version and be able to use it internationally, CIS or not.
2) No, not everyone in CIS speaks russian or even has it as primary language. And even less so chinese. And then there are lots of bilingual people who have no issues reading, listening, speaking and understanding english. Why are we denied ability to use it under any circumstances?
I apologise if it came out a bit ranty, but please try to understand: it is really frustrating to end up in a situation like this.
