RAM Memory Leak, High CPU Usage when launching For Honor Beta

    EDIT: !!!! WORK AROUND !!!

The antivirus is the one causing those memory leaks!!! (I guess it's in fact their anti-cheat solution but oh well...). YOu need to deactivate it while playing! went from 100% RAM Usage after 2 minutes to constant 50-60% Usage! Enjoy the game.

Hi! Been playing For Honor in the Technical test, and I did not have this bug!

Everytime I launch For Honor, my used RAM memory just goes up to 100% progressively, even though when I look at my ressources monitor, the game doesnt take more than 1GB of RAM! This leads to huge stuttering, fps drops and then huge freezes, making me restart my PC... I've seen some people reporting about that and I hope you guys are gonna fix this quickly or give us more play time... Again, I did not have this problem in the Technical test, so this bug has been put in the Close beta phase or after it. Here are my PC specs in case of:

    -Inter i5-6600K 3.50GHz
    -8GB RAM
    - MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X

I tried different workarounds like verifying files, installing visual studio updates 2015 and 2013, but nothing works... Even in the lowest graphic options the memory leak is still there.

This is unacceptable with the game being released in a week or two.

Here is an image of my ressource monitor showing how it leaks:

All the people having this issue needs a solution quickly! Please Ubisoft answer quickly to this.

EDIT: !!!! POSSIBLE WORK AROUND !!!

I just tried deleting the "For Honor" folder in "My Documents" and things seem to go better! Try that!

I am also having the same issue and I also tried to delete the folder from my documents but it did not work for me. I hope someone else knows other ways to solve this problem as the game is unplayable. (I didn't have this issue when I played the closed beta, if it keeps going like this I guess I won't buy the game... I was so hyped for this game and now all the hype is gone).

I reported this on 26th Jan but all Ubisoft have sent me is automated replies trying to close my support ticket without providing a solution. I had the same problem running Steep during Open Beta (which was months ago) and they didn't respond to me back then either.

Unfortunately they can't seem to deal with technical issues so I wouldn't get your hopes up if you're expecting to play before the end of the weekend .

Edit: Also I should mention that I didn't encounter this problem during the GR Wildlands beta this last weekend, nor during FH alpha and closed tech tests.

I noticed you're running Avast. Try disabling shields and turning on Silent/gaming mode. That's what fixed the problems I was having.

Could you please add more info on that topic?
How do the values shown in taskmanager change with and without Avast?
    Thanks!

    Hey again guys!!

Re7ain was right! It's not the "My documents" Folder, it was the Avast Antivirus, I guess i activated at the same time but forgot mentioning it.

BRolf02, when I was lauunching the game with Avast, my RAM Usage was at least 70% then adding up to 100%, without it it just stays around 50-60%! Hope it helps

I have same problem, I don't use Avast, I deactivated "Windows defender" .... I can play 10 min without trouble, and suddenly, memory skyrocket until PC crash.

Only way to limit crash is playing windowed, whenever memory start to skyrocket, quit the game and kill "for honor process"

Is there anything else that make memory leak for "for honor" ? (other than Avast)

It's not avast's fault, it doesn't stop without avast running. Running no anti-virus, it still happens.

This is without running an anti-virus, just loading the game and the overlay.
