This is NOT a Ghost Recon game! At best it's a hybrid of Far Cry/GTA/Generic shooter.
I'd like to think that the Devs have all been working hard to make this & obviously we're all grateful that they let us play this closed beta segment, but cumon, really? There are SO many bugs, glitches & outright nightmares with the NAT/co-op match making, you've gotta be thinking that releasing this in only a month's time is ridiculous.
Apart from those glaring problems that I've already mentioned, there are many issues in what does work.
In previous Ghost Recon games, I felt like an elite operator with a crack professional squad. In this, I felt like a mercenary equipped by some budget business/Mickey Mouse outfit!
Early in this beta, Ricki of the rebels, complains that he's only getting 4 soldiers & the woman (who seems to be conducting a personal revenge type operation) says to him that you're not just soldiers, but a crack unit of the best damned soldiers in the American military! Then you go on an op & your drone can only fly 20 yards, it's batteries are ****e & you can only sync shot 1 enemy! Crack unit? Sheez, I'd be too embarrassed to continue if it was real!
Because I was unable to join with my friends in co-op, due to the NAT type mess, I did mostly solo stuff & the AI squad were not only next to useless, but would continually rush into compounds & give us away until I learned to park them several hundred yards from our objective & go in alone.
When I did use them, giving continuous & specific orders, if things went hot, all too often they'd wait til I'd been downed, then come & revive me, instead of covering my position in the first place!
Then there were the several times when one or more of them wouldn't get in the escape vehicle & you had to leave them behind, knowing they'd magically escape & return to base alone, so much for realism eh?
Talking of realism/immersion, the general population are cartoon like & all the towns & villages look too much alike.
No, sadly this is definitely NOT a Ghost Recon game & unless the Devs work 24/7 for this upcoming month & pull something spectacular out of the hat, this is gonna be yet another middle of the road generic shooter which players will very quickly tire of & stop playing all too soon.
It's such a shame as I was really looking forward to another great Ghost Recon game.
Devildoggamer usually plays tactically, former marine and all. Randoms will not play this way most of the time and with the command interface for your AI squad, it is currently impossible to use them to such a degree of efficiency. I like this game, but I've never liked playing COOP unless it's with the friends I used to sit down and play split screen with, unfortunately we are all too old now and have very different schedules to play online. So, as a single player I think what the OP said stands, this game is not bad, but it is not the satisfying tactical squad based shooter many of us have been holding out for since 2001 Maybe that will come one dayOriginally Posted by eriksen789 Go to original post

I did watch it and I even played it. The fact some praise this game as potential Game of the Year doesn't stop it from be a mediocre let-down. This game is an abomination, an outright insult to Ghost Recon, its fans, and the gaming community at large for just how much Ubisoft bragged would be in this game and then wasn't.
Siege is a terrible Rainbow6 game, but at least it can hold up on its own merits separate from the brand. Wildlands can't even say that.
You don't see the open world change of pace as a merit? That's literally the most realistic thing to ever be incorporated into a ghost recon game.Originally Posted by ThePollie Go to original post
I see it for what it is - An empty cop out. An open world means nothing if there's nothing in it.
It's just miles of empty, do-nothing landscape with poorly programed AI civilians clogging the roads to give the impression of "life" without any of the depth. Beyond that, it's just outposts to attack and take over and little side-mission "feathers" to collect. FarCry had the exact same issue. Assassin's Creed, same issue.
Ubisoft Open World titles are all like this, and I expected as much with Wildlands. Somehow, people still argue that this is a good thing, but they never seem to explain specifically why.
Yeah team AI is the worst thing about this game when you play solo. For me they also broke cover and any attempt at a stealth approach, a good number of times. Just making their way into an enemy camp while I'm still marking enemies from the outside! Enemy AI isn't much better with no-one even attempting to flank you, but the friendly AI seriously needs work before release.
And I too had NAT issues, showing me as Offline when the game was able to connect to Ubisoft online services just fine otherwise.
