This is a thread to add things that you found to be problematic for the final release of the game. The problems found here may be found across all platforms, however, these items were found on an Xbox one experience and are not necessarily problems on PC/PS4. Keep it Straight to the point guys as will be done below.
I enjoyed the game overall. However, some gameplay and bug issues should be addressed before the release of the game. The below will not necessarily be in any kind of order except of how they came to mind.
Re-spawn zones: while I am glad that Wildlands has made re-spawning occurring 100 meters away from other player to prevent spawning in combat, this led to spawning in other problematic areas the most obvious of which was below a cliff which one had to traverse maybe 400-700 meters roughly just to rejoin his friend in combat?
FIXED
Re-spawn times: 60 Seconds is a long wait. While I understand longer re-spawn times create deterrents to dying all the time, sitting on the ground for 60 seconds can be rather boring. Maybe follow the Divisions example of a spawn cam or at least lower the spawn time and maybe push the distance further out from the player you spawn by. (Maybe twice as far?)
NPC-Spawning: It seems that NPCs re-spawn randomly sometimes after completing a mission/side mission. Maybe there is a reason for this i.e. Merging hosts, restarting mission. However, some times NPCs seemed to spawn for no reason at all. Maybe this should be hashed out or explained so players know what not to do. I am all about Cartel members driving up to an area you just cleared out to try and figure out why there base is now empty, but this needs to be a purposeful part of the game and not a spawning glitch.
NPC teleporting glitch?: I hope that this can be fixed as this is definitely a problem for a game that is going to attract gamers who like a realistic game. I experienced this in two different ways that may be related to the above NPC-Spawning problem. The first was when I would be shooting at Unidad Troops and they would suddenly shift positions (away from a headshot). The second was when they would completely disappear from the map with no trace. Definitely a disappointment when you are going for that 4 Rank Combat experience.
FIXED (or did not occur)
Stuck positions: I am sure there are many of these as it is a very large Open World game. I found myself getting stuck between two rocks, while I know this is possible in real life (LOL), it sorta sucks that your ghost cannot figure his way out of two rocks. I believe a potential fix for this would be to add a jumping mechanism into the game (A button for Xbox one Users). Nothing fancy, people are obviously going to get stuck all over this game and trying to find every spot in a massive open world is just ridiculous. Adding a jumping mechanism would need to be tied into the bug itself so that it actually gets you out of a stuck location. Self suicide is not the answer Ubisoft, It never is.
Jumping: I understand maybe ubisoft must have had a reason for not training ghosts how to Jump, but really? As the above, this will probably not make it into the game. But not allowing people to jump on top of things except in areas where ubisoft allows you to is not a "Player Choice" thing to do. For example, I tried to step off a ledge and onto a building just below. But because my ghost never learned the vertical jump as a child, sadly I died. Offering player choice to jump or grab ledges of buildings would be nice.
Helicopter Controls: While playing Wildlands this past weekend, most people were complaining more about the vehicle controls than they were for the Helicopter controls. While I agree that the ground vehicle controls could be a little more realistic, I generally was able to get used to the controls and drive with, for the most part, no problem. My main concern is with the helicopter controls. While I was able to keep the chopper in the air keep everyone alive, the controls did not seem consistent at all. Holding forward on the left joystick while holding the right trigger down doesn't seem to continue to push the helicopter forward and sometimes the helicopter will just level out. A good example of a helicopter control layout is Battlefield 4.
Helicopter glitch: This glitch was actually fun. But not realistic and probably will end up being a problem for some players. I went to take off with a helicopter and was immediately shot at a 35 degree angle about 100 meters from the take off point. Fun as it was, it probably should be fixed.
FIXED (or did not occur)
Entering helicopters seems to be ridiculously difficult. And this isn't just a once in a while problem. Every time I got into the pilot seat, my teammates took 5 or more seconds to enter the chopper and would stand there putting their hand in the air like I was about to run them over (except in every case, the chopper was still on the ground and had yet to move). This should be adjusted before the game launches.
FIXED (Or at least Better)
Cover: I don't mind the soft cover system in Wildlands. However, two issues should be addressed before launch. First: peek around corners can be difficult. This should be made easier and you shouldn't have to be in the exact right spot on the wall just to look around a corner. Second: When hiding behind cover, The ghosts head never seems to be quite hidden and will generally take damage. I do not mind the suppression, but if I am hiding in cover I shouldn't be taking any damage.
Better
---The following problems are more of game play adjustments that SHOULD be made before launch. The division made the same mistakes when they were advertising before game launch. For example, The division was originally perceived as a survival game based off of trailers. However, at launch the game turned out to be quite the opposite. The only comeback that Massive made was Survival mode that came with patch 1.4 almost a year later.
Frequent Helicopters: Choppers are awesome, but they are too frequent. If the game developers and designers really want players to get a full grasp of the work they have put into this game (And believe me, they have put massive amounts of work into this game) then the helicopters need to be much less frequent. Forcing players to walk about or drive around the open world will help people enjoy the game to a much fuller extent.
--(Also, there needs to be a reason for people to explore all the areas and not just to find a guarded supply cache for the rebels. Really if this is a problem at this stage of the game development then we will not be seeing a change at game launch. But if there is a Wildlands 2? Open world needs to be more interesting.)
Frequent Ammo Caches: Ammo is something that should be much harder to find. Really, to be true to the "We are Survivors" in We Are Ghosts Trailer, there should be more surviving and less ammunition everywhere so that you really do need to scavenge and conserve your resources.
Unlimited weapon inventory?: Really? I can carry all these clothing items and weapons but I don't have any ammunition? Simple fix. You should only be allowed to change your weapons from the Ghost Rally Points within the game or by picking them up from enemies/weapon cases. However, modifying your weapons should stay as is. I BELIEVE THIS will force players to be more TACTICAL and stick to a plan when going after a mission (which is one of the major contributing factors to fun in this game).
Garage: I actually never played much GTA 5. However, I remember getting a garage early on. Wildlands needs to have some sort of Garage to make up for the lack of helicopters and vehicles that I suggested in the above. These should be parked at rally points. How it should work, if you leave a vehicle at a rally point, that player will be able to find that same vehicle at the rally point until he removes it from that rally point. Maybe put a limit to how many vehicles can be saved there, or maybe don;t. The point is, people like realistic sh*t like that. This will force players to try and reserve certain vehicles for certain missions, especially if it is really difficult to find and capture a chopper. Choppers should be heavily guarded and should have multiple pilots near by.
Repair Shop: I would love to be able to fix vehicles that are damaged at the expense of some in game currencies (gasoline, supplies etc.). Also contributes to the survival aspect in a way.
Weather Forecast: Weather is an amazing part of Wildlands and many games of today. There should be one of two things in this game when it comes to weather. Either there should be a weather forecast or some kind of indication (whether it be through the radio with alerts or via the in game tac-map), or the squad lead should be able to "time travel" to the next storm, or night, or daytime. This will help the ghosts to try and plan out the day or wait to strike at the right time.
I know that's a large amount of things to change before a launch just a month away. I am very skeptical about any of these changes coming by then. But these are the things I have witnessed in the beta that in my opinion should be changed. I know that there are others who have their opinions and thoughts about this game and those of us who are actually taking the time to think and write about it really hope our voices are heard. Thanks for reading guys.
I really hope Wildlands sees some improvement between now and launch as I know many others do. We all know Ubisoft has worked hard on this one. Good Luck Ubisof! We do want you to succeed, but only in all of the right ways and not because you can promote awesome trailers.
