Beta Feedback in Dept
Game Difficulty
one of my concerns deals with the games difficult options. I understand the community had access to a one star difficulty area, so the game should be easier in this area. But for the difficulty level that you choose when you start the game, there is no real difference between them. I played the whole beta in Ghost difficulty (hardest difficulty) and it felt no different than when I first started playing the beta in the normal difficulty. The only difference I found between the difficulty levels is how many bullets your character can take before he/she goes down.
Ideas for difficulty levels:
1. There should be a clear distinction between difficulty levels, such as disabling 3D spotting (red circles over enemy heads and on mini map) and other icons of the sort on the hardest difficulty level. This also applies to limiting other UI elements that would make the gameplay too easy.
2. Increase the amount of patrols on harder difficulty levels. This places the player in a situation where they must always be aware of their surrounds.
3. Increase the number of enemies in bases on harder difficulty levels. This includes tweaking the schedules of enemies so they are on constant alert and patrolling every inch of their base. For example, I went in to a Unidad base at night and there was only one guard on patrol and everyone else was sleeping, there were at least 10 to 15 guards in that base. Something like that is not acceptable considering they are supposed to be the toughest enemy in the game.
Vehicles
Vehicles are one of the most efficient ways of getting around the map as well as completing mission objectives. So, it’s only right that all vehicles get the love and care they deserve because they are one of the most important elements in the game.
Ideas for vehicle handling:
1. Helicopters are very hard to control, it takes more guess work to pilot one then actual skill. I recommend making a new control scheme specific for piloting helicopters, because what’s in game right now just does not cut it.
2. During my play sessions I found that there was a bug that didn’t allow vehicles to drive at their maximum speed, so most of the time I was pretty much driving at speed limit level with pedestrians. This made it hard to complete time/speed challengers for the militia and made it hard to catch up to convoys on supply raids.
3. It would also be nice if there was some way to get your AI team mates to drive/pilot a vehicle while you provide support fire from a passenger seat instead of it always being the other way around. This would add to the diversity of the gameplay.
Character
Your character is the most important thing in the game. A balance in movement is essential to give players the best gameplay experience possible.
Ideas for Character:
1. Character movement now, I feel is too fast. This promotes run and gun gameplay instead of strategic planning and execution. The character needs to feel like he/she has more weight to their body. They are carrying equipment, guns, and armor, the character needs to feel like they are carrying all this stuff. They cannot be gliding across the map with ease.
2. When taking cover behind an object and aiming, there are many times in which your character’s gun clips through the cover, so you end up shooting the cover instead of what you were aiming at. One of the reasons this happens is because the character model does not physically bend over or around a piece of cover which causes this to happen.
3. Your character should be able to climb anything they can reach. Limiting what a character can climb just limits the players mobility and ability to find new and interesting vantage point in the game. On top of this there are areas in the map where you can fall in a hole and you have no way of getting out because you can’t climb. The solution to this problem that I experienced was I had to return to the main menu.
4. When taking cover and begin suppressed by gun fire it should be hard to aim under these situations and return fire. The suppression system from Ghost Recon Future Soldier would be a good step in reducing run and gun gameplay as well as placing an emphasis on using stealth and tactics.
Variety
The little bit of the game players had access to in this beta was very interesting. I felt like there was a good enough variety but at the same time, I’m not sure if this will be all the variety that will be available in the full game. So, I want to propose some ideas that could add longevity to the game.
Ideas for game variety and longevity:
1. Include an in-game survival challenge where you must defend a base and survive as many waves of enemies as possible.
2. Create randomly generated missions that promote different gameplay styles and force players out of their comfort zones.
3. Create daily and weekly challenges players can complete for new customization options for weapons and clothing.
4. Create community challenges where players compete for leader boards. For example, who can clear a base in the fastest time without raising the alarm. Kidnapping a VIP and extracting him/her without being detected. Killing as many enemies within a specific time limit.
5. Add a challenge mode where the player must gather documents and put document clues together on their own (with no help) to find a target and eliminate them or to find an area on the map where they must destroy an objective. This would be the ideal situation to use your recon skills as well as to challenge the player to use their brain. It would make them feel like a real operator in the wildlands instead of the game holding the players hand all the time instructing them where to go. There would be multiple steps and a lot of traveling from one place to another and it would allow the player to travel to areas of the map that have no purpose in the game (areas that are barren).
AI team mates
AI team mates in game need some work. There are lots of things that can be changed, added and tweaked to make them more efficient partners.
Ideas for AI team mates:
1. I see a lot of players wanting to have the ability to customize the physical appearance of their AI teammates. I personally do not care much about this, but since lot of people would like this, I think it would be nice to have the option available for those who care that much about their team mates. It would only add to the game in a positive way.
2. There should be an option to turn off your AI team mates so you can play by yourself as a lone wolf. There are many times where I tell my teams to hold back while I clear a base because they would ruin my stealth and get me detected.
3. On the other hand there have been many times where I used my team mates in successful and fun manners that benefited me. I would say, I like having my AI team mates around a lot. But the down side is there aren’t enough specific commands that allow me to use them to the best of my ability.
a. Improves the command wheel so you can have more diverse team options available. Such as different rules of engagement (open fire, hold fire, fire on my command, fire at will).
b. Improves the command wheel so you can direct you whole team to an area or each individual AI team mate to a specific area.
c. Create an option to set you AI team mates in different formations (wedge, Diamond, V formations).
Number 3 is just an idea; the current command wheel works well but if more options were available then it would be even better.
