Wildlands Beta Final Thoughts
So after burying hours into the beta playing both solo and with friends I can honestly say that I really enjoyed the game of what I saw of it in the beta. I enjoyed the solo a lot more than it seems like a lot of people did. I enjoyed being able to command a full squad of four and set up a successful sync shots and feeling in control of an elite team of special forces soldiers. That's not to say I enjoyed single player overall more than the co-op. But there were times I did enjoy it more. I will say that I wish when I was playing co-op AI teammates would fill out the remainder of the squad not occupied by actual players. Again, I know that is not the popular opinion, but it is mine.
I did eventually get a little bored with the beta because of the lack of material and activities to do. I went back to taking out the UNIDAD base multiple times and in different ways because I was out of things to do, but didn't want to put the game down. That is where I think PvP should come into play eventually. That is also where I think the strong points of co-op are instead of solo because playing co-op will allow you to mess around the game in various ways with friends in ways that you can't do solo with the 3 AI filled squad. I did think the amount of weapons equipment you could find wasn't enough. Granted I know this is a beta and it would be very unlikely to put a lot of material in the beta but it would have been nice.
Overall I liked what I have seen so far more than the division. But as much as like this game I would like to see more in the game to keep me playing it longer. Some things that need improvement are the driving. The vehicles (at least ground vehicles) are too difficult to handle, and the vehicles take way too much damage way too quickly. I know there is a vehicle damage skill that you can invest into but regardless I don't think the vehicles should breakdown as quick as they do off the bat. Also this is the first game where I preferred driving in a vehicle with 4 wheels over a motorcycle. Not necessarily complaining but that gives an idea of how weird I thought driving motorcycles were. I also think some of bullet drop variables were too similar across all the weapons. It may also have been just me but it seemed that the bullet drop from the hand gun seemed the same from a sniper rifle and last I checked that's not suppose to be the case. Also seemed that I could shoot just as far with a handgun as I could with a handgun as I could with a sniper rifle or assault rifle.
Again, I really enjoyed the beta, and I hope that there is an open beta in the near future so I can test it out on my PC so I can get an idea of if it will run decent on it or not (I played on PS4 this time). I cannot wait until the release date.
