[BETA] Random Thoughts and Beta Feedback

Helicopter controls are way over simplified. If you want it to be that simplified, give two options. One for simple and one for advanced controls.

Aggro-ing Side Mission should not cause you to have to re-spawn for ignoring the side mission after you "fail" it.

Vehicle Controls are pretty stiff and unforgiving. Turning is super touchy and needs to be a lot less so. Vehicle suspension is violent, especially on bumpy roads. Sometimes recovery of the vehicle isn't possible... and that tends to be bad when you're on the side of a mountain.

Being run over by a vehicle is very quick and insta-death... damage done from vehicles needs to be vastly decreased. The fact that the enemy can brush up against you with a car and kill you instantly, is highly annoying. Also, if you could have it so that Civilians actually stop when you're standing in the middle of the road, that'd be great. Tired of pulling over, getting out and getting run over before the animation completes.

On the side missions to get the supplies and rescue them, if you trigger the cartel and alert them to your presence... it's almost impossible to stop the takeoff of the helicopter. Shooting the pilot as he's getting into the helicopter renders him invincible (after dumping an entire mag into him) and then shooting him with the sniper in the head through the cockpit window gave the hit marker reticle, but failed to kill. Furthermore, the helicopter takes no time what so ever to start up. I know for a fact, as an Apache crew chief, that it takes no less than 5 minutes to fire up a helicopter. Given that this is a video game, I can understand if it takes far less time to start the rotor blades, but it should take at least 15 seconds to bring the blades up to speed. Having a helicopter go from 0 to Flight speed in terms of Rotor RPM is so broken, it's not funny. Just down right frustrating.

Shooting off the sides of helicopters is a pain in the butt. You should be able to aim at least 180 degrees off the side of the helicopter, and 150 degrees up and down (assuming you're not trying to shoot your legs). Currently you have a small box facing the direction you're sitting (back or front).

Dying by explosions, or dying inside of a car has the chance of causing your character to become stuck in "deafened" mode, such as that when you're severely hurt or a grenade went off near you. The only way to fix this, is to die (and be revived).

Grenade 40mm launcher aim down sights are relatively un-intuitive and unhelpful. Difficult to use. Firing from the hip is... 50/50 as to whether you're going to hit the target.

XP Bar is nowhere to be found. There's no way of telling how close you are to the next level, and what does and doesn't give you XP.

Explosions for the distant sound are there, but the up close sound is very lacking. Igniting a gas tank in front of my buddy and I, having it explode in a ball of flames and smoke, and hearing only the distant echo of the explosion was rather lackluster.

I love Thermal mode currently, but FLIR is a lot more useful IRL than it is in game. This isn't 2004 Splinter Cell. You should be able to easily make out edges of objects and what not without having to leave FLIR mode. GRW's FLIR is almost useless for anything other than flipping to it to locate an enemy. During the day it's even worse than useless, with everything being super saturated with color, and bodies don't get lit up correctly. I don't know if any developer has ever used FLIR, but it adjusts to the ambient temperature to give the corresponding light colors. FLIR should adjust to the ambient temperature and adapt to serve its usefulness. Also, you should be able to stay in FLIR and continue through areas without having to flip out of it. Currently it's very difficult to even clear a house with it on the entire time.

Bullet Flight time is abysmal. It feels like I'm shooting HE shells 1,000m out, when really I'm shooting about 50m out. Bullet flight time, and arc, should be re-adjusted. Having to aim above someone's head that's less than 300m away is a pain in the butt. Set the default scope distance for 300m and let people figure out the mechanics accordingly. Also for reference sake, the M40 has a muzzle velocity of 777 m/s with 175 gr. M118LR. If my target is less than 100m away, and it takes a single second to get to him... something is wrong.

If you're going to decrease bullet speed based on the fact that you're using a suppressor, then let people know that. Also make it so we can toggle using subsonic ammo or not. Don't penalize the flight time, because of a suppressor.

Lastly, I saw in the unlocks that there is an ability at level 13 to unlock the ability to not have damage taken off from a suppressor. Modern Suppressors don't cause a bullet's speed to be decreased. Baffle design has come a long ways, and using a suppressor no longer means your round will travel any less quickly. Also it will act as a muzzle break and catch some of the recoil of the gun on the way out, thus lessening the recoil. Just physics... I'm not sure if this is the case in the game, but I thought I'd mention it.

Anyways that's my few cents on the situation. Overall, I really enjoyed the game and I look forward to purchasing it. Hopefully I'll win the give away though

I agree with most of the opinions here. I'd like to throw in that there should be an option for solo (With or without AI options) and have trophies/achievements for both. I like the arcade feel, though. Reminds me of Mercenary.

Agreed. I hate having to babysit my AI Team Mates... that never get shot at... that run right in front of me when I'm shooting... that spook the enemy when I'm trying to be stealthy... that take forever to climb into the car...

    AI Team Mates suck...
