I didnt play the beta but it seems like sync shots are not possible when the MARKERS are OFF.
First , i dont know how many people know this but from a stream i've seen if you ask for a sync shot in the middle of open combat than the ghosts AIs will do directed aim at this target. like in GR:FS. a lot of people said how shame it is that you cant tell the ghosts to attack a specific target. well, you can. L)
unless.... you disable MARKERS in the HUD. it seems like gameplay features like the sync shot is also impossible when you turn off a HUD element? that's weird and makes no sense.
the red markers and the detection brackets should NOT be tied to any other UI element. UBI, please, for the love of baby jesus, fix this.
some of us dont want the redredd circles and brackets in the HUD because its a cheat. no man in the world can see through a wall or magically know where a guy is staring at him from. that's why we want to turn those off. but meaning that we cant sync shot or cant tell where our own team mates are?! this is information we DO want to know. as well as where static objectives are. and being able to command your team mates to shoot specific enemies shouldnt be tied to any HUD setting. common.
these kind of markers (AI teammates, static objectives, syncshot markers) should be a separate HUD element.
playing without the red circles and detection brackets feels a lot better in games, IMO. not knowing where the enemy is is a huge part of the tension and fun. peaking around corners, second guessing where enemies are, not seeing tangos in the darkness of night only to see muzzle flashes indicating their positions and supressing that area with a hope to get a lucky shot before you get gunned down - that's part of the fun!
then you disable the markers and along with the fun you also remove important data that has nothing to do with fun or challenge - it's information that you need to know or features you need to have which is gone.
silly.
i really hope it's a mistake and will be fixed in the full game because i HATE (!!!!) playing with the information of where enemies are but not knowing the other stuff the is disabled with it ruins the game. (not talking about GR:W but other UBI games that got this somewhat better).
UBI started with not allowing us to "un-see" enemies in farcry3 so modders had to do their work for them and find ways to remove them. in FC4 UBI put a lot of important HUD functions so we can tune it better, but still you couldnt un-see enemies you take with the camera. in AC you can, to some degree, not know where enemies are or disable the outlines they have.
in Farcry Primal you could really remove ways to see the enemies or it's detection. it has the best HUD options in any FC game. The division also has some really nice HUD customization.
it only makes sense they will implement lessons from their previous titles in the next ones, especially considering how much GR:W is like FC.
they do seem to have their hearts in the right place with giving us HUD options to remove.... but then they bunched them up in ways that make no sense.
i really hope this gets fixed.
Correct, you lose the sync shot if markers are off and this should be fixed, I'm surprised it hasn't been.
i think Topeira also suggested the minimap should retain the GPS travel guide but have the enemy markers turned off and this is a good idea. The red dots should also come off the Tacmap in coop in my view. The spotting mechanic is still at work, putting giveaway dots on the map for enemies you've not seen, just not on your HUD

you would like to remove the red dots from the tac map? if you get no red dots on the tacmap than the drone and binoculars cant tag enemies at all. it removes the tagging feature from the game, and while it might appeal to extra HC players i kinda feel like it removes something crucial to the gameplay and the use of drones.
i think that once i play the game i will be happily tagging enemies (with minimap off) and using the tac map once in a while to trying to figure out where the enemies are without knowing their position all the time. this seems right.
The ideal set up, IMO, was if enemies would get tagged and appeared in the minimap and tacmap for only a few seconds and then disappear, or appear on the maps and if they go beneath a roof or indoors - then disappear. it would implement some realism to the idea of marked enemies using todays technology - as if a satellite is following them as long as they're in the open. but this is not a suggestion that can be implemented so it's not a real request.
Though allowing to remove red dots and detection signals WITHOUT REMOVING THE RED HIT ARROWS independently, and maybe even from the minimap, seem feasible enough to be implemented in a patch.
Posted this under the bug section myself. It is so frustrating trying to play it realistically and cannot give my squad orders. Let alone the fact that they will call out enemy positions before full sprint running in front of the turret they just called out and ruining my stealth option. Man, the AI suck in this game.
