So, I've played the closed beta for a few hours and I'm actually pretty pleased. The last beta I played was, funnily, The Division - another Ubisoft game. That beta (and the game itself) was overly disappointing to me so I was very worried that Wildlands would fall into the same hole of looking amazing but failing to deliver. I've been excited for this game since its E3 announcement.

So, my thoughts so far? I'm actually incredibly relieved. As a beta, obviously it's clear that it's not the end product, especially with a little over a month until the game releases (unless they delay it). It's an amazing game, from what I can see.

Pros:
> You have the option to tackle objectives in different ways and I usually opt for stealth.
> I like the upgrade system, although I'm not sure if there's a level cap that will eventually stop you from spending skill points when you reach a certain level? Hopefully not as I do like to fully max everything.
> The map is huge. Even the locked area of the map for the closed beta in itself is a very large place.
> There's diversity in weapons for players to pick for their own play styles, as well as the option to customise those weapons.
> There's a fair amount of customisation options in itself.
> There's a lot to do, which is expected from such a large map.

However, every game will have its cons, which is fine really.

Cons:
> The driving mechanics are a bit awkward. I think it's difficult for a third person game to get driving mechanics hard, unless it's Rockstar. However, you can get used to it fairly quickly.
> Civilians are a nuisance when you're in a firefight.
> I had a bug where my bullets didn't register at all, as if I were just blowing air at the enemies? I mentioned this is a separate post, though.
> I can see it getting repetitive quickly, but this is only a beta so I'm assuming the game with all its freedom will hold a lot more substance.

Some additional comments:
> I think the "sync shot" option could be abused a bit. I almost took down an entire camp solely using the sync shot because I didn't trust my own shots. Although, I guess, you suffer the cooldown.
> The flying mechanics are awkward at first but easy to get used to. Although, I think planes are considerably harder.
> The lack of tutorials is something I've noticed BUT I actually prefer this as I do like to learn a game by itself. The essential tutorials are there, with skills and some controls and whatnot, though.
> This definitely has the potential to be a great co-op game and it does promote the use of headsets. In the PS4 community, there's not a lot of games that do that well and it's predominantly silence so here's hoping.
> I found some lieutenant go missing from objectives, even if they don't flee. They just completely disappear but there's no note to alert you they've fled and the icon for them is still on the map.

For the most part, it's a pretty impressive beta. For me, anyway. I didn't have any issues with downloading it or even playing it. I even have jealous friends.

Good job, Ubisoft.

Oh, one last con:
> This will severely cut my time on Rainbow Six Siege, thus pissing off the team I play with.

One last comment. I just saw a post about the AI being bullet sponges. This is actually pretty true. I've been downed a few times while being reckless and the AI just clear the area and then revive me. It could be a concern for those wanting to play with more of a challenge. I can't offer a solution on how to fix this, really. Playing with AI if you want to stealth is awkward enough as they can be right in front of the enemy (even though it doesn't necessarily ruin the stealth, it does ruin your immersion, the sacred immersion!) and having them just clear areas in firefight situations could potentially ruin it. I shrug my shoulders because I haven't had too many issues with it really.
