I've seen some complains about Ubisoft beeing too unresponsive about the p2p complains.
Here is the man himself giving some statements about it.

Of course everyone will know better and accusing him of something on a scale from twisting the truth to trying to kill you via heartattack caused by bad connection. You dont have to read it, just start flaming right away. Also you should call me a Ubi**** suckr because i had a good time in the beta and all...
Maybe you have already noticed but i am quite desillusionized and bitter about how negative our community has become. I like beeing the edgy sarcastic type but if everybody is so negative, there is no sense in it. So i've decided to pack my backs and move sibiria, i've discovered a nice hole in the ground there in the middle of nowhere on google maps. Going to live there.
But the prep might take a while and if someone could leave a positive comment like "beta was cool, looking forward to Feb14th", i might give civilization another chance.
cheers.

So not a single word about what NOT works. No answer to play with friends or Dominion? Spontanious disconnecs from a match are "usual connection problems". Not even mentioning the worst problems. Instead they tell us that is isnt actually p2p.Originally Posted by Dez_troi_aR Go to original post
And I thought playing with one out of seven friends sometimes to the end was only a problem of p2p! How wrong I was.
That is not what host advantage means....Originally Posted by FREEDOM from Go to original post
The problem I have with the whole "it's a new type of p2p, it'll be fine" is that I've played the game.
Pardon? What kind of people do they have working on this? There have been games with more ai and/or players running over "normal" internet for at least a decade. There was this moment that was really important. Six or eight months into development I had this moment where these engineers came to me and said, “So, you want to do eight players running over a network and you wan to do that with two hundred AI, over a normal internet connection? This is your pitch?”
I said, “Yes.”
They say, “That’s impossible.

Let us make some assumptions. If you use a work around for the majority of issues that peer to potato would suffer from in this kind of setting. Then it's safe to assume, of eight people matched, the host will be the best choice at the time of matching. This means that anytime a new host is chosen from the remaining seven, things are no longer optimal, degradation occurs. The best you can hope for in this situation is for a better host option to join and another migration to occur. Host migrations are annoying to say the least!
The choice for peer to potato, is clearly a bean counter decision. It's also the equivalent, of Ubisoft shooting itself in the foot, right out of the gate. His bright bulbs most likely did not mean to say, "impossible" . They likely meant to say, that is not the best way to handle what you want to do...why would you want to do that?
I purposely kept this simple so everyone would understand. I'm not trying to be negative.Heck! I even pre ordered. Granted I did so knowing full well what they are doing, why they are doing it, and how unless things change, it will shorten the life span of the game immensely.
P.S. Thanks for the heads up! I will start deploying anti personnel mines around my hole immediately. LOL
Can't find any rule that forbid posting images but if there is, tell me, i will take them down. Not my images btw, just smth i found on the net.
I am honestly curious how this "host has no advantage" works in terms of this:
