This is a fighting game, not an MMO.
hell, at its core the 4v4 gamemode is a MOBA.

Name me one fighter or moba that lets you change your characters gender?
Would you complain that Ryu from street fighter is gender locked to a male?
Im all for gender equality, but some people need to just grow up and accept that sometimes in life you cant get what you want, and males and females are simply not the same, and never will be.
Males and females are not the ****ing same. everyone needs to stop trying to make everything equal and balanced and fair. there are strengths and weaknesses to both. The day i take gender equality seriously is the day they let men and women compete in the Olympics against eachother. because why not? we are all equal and need to have the same rights and opportunities in life.
Ryu is a male and always will be. Like a character from a fighter or MOBA,he is a developed and designed character.

Now...What did Jason Vandenberghe say again?
“this game isn’t about us creating characters and imposing them on you” and that “this game is about you.”

You got a little off topic there at the end. Male and females perform the same in game I believe.

I think Ubisoft has a hit with For Honor, and I am getting the gold version.
Some people get very...ill say passionate about people bringing this topic up. This is a feedback forum so I thought it the best place to speak about it.

I just asked if in the future if all classes would have male or female options. Which im sure they will. I just want to play my favorite hero as a male.

Because its like Mr. Vandenberghe said...
“it’s who you are. I want you to be able to be in that game.” and "we put a lot of time and effort into that.”

No. After a quick look at similar posts.

Some people seem to get genuinely angry about bringing this topic up. Things like calling people childish, TYPING IN ALL CAPS, SL^$%$AMMING *^*&^**(&THIER &*^*&%KEYBOARDS. Things like that.

Its great to discuss and debate, but just insulting people because of their opinion does not help anything.

    Yet again, I say...

    THIS.

    GUY.

    GETS ME.

I mean seriously, the amount of hate I have received for 'being too scared to lose my masculinity' (they actually said that, like what the heck?), AKA wanting no gender locks in For Honor, was unreal.

There is no gender lock. They didn't lock away something that already exists. They simply don't have gender variations. And changing that means making 6 new characters with entirely new animations, voice lines, all gear in the game has to be adjusted to fit their body types, they'll need new art assets etc. etc.

Who's going to pay for all of that? You? Mexico?

It should have been in the game in the first place, and also, we never said 'they locked away something that already exists', we're saying they locked the gender to only male/female in some cases.

Oh, and you asked us 'Who's going to pay for all of that? You?'. The devs said they were going to give out Free DLC, updates, content and maps to everyone.

Nonetheless, free updates and patches are mandatory in every game, finalized or not.

    So, you were saying?

Umm, people like me who will buy the DLC? Not sure what you mean. They wouldn't work on something like this and then make it free. Since it would be a lot of work they would just sell it like any other cosmetic DLC.

I also don't think the attack animations are different between the male and female variations of each class. The only animation difference seems to be how they stand, walk and run? All attacks look similar between the genders, right? Emotes are identical, executions are identical, attacks, parries, etc all seem to be identical. I think a lot of the work would be in creating the armor models for the alternate gender.

Still, I don't see how us asking for some additional cosmetic DLC that we would happily pay for is somehow a bad thing. As I said earlier, they can make out like bandits by taking advantage of fools like me who would be willing to shell out cash for this update. And seriously, I am thinking something like a male Peacekeeper would sell like hotcakes.

EDIT: In response to CamoFlash7, I assume like the ability to customize the new classes, any future cosmetic DLC will cost an arm and a leg of "in-game" currency to actually unlock. Stuff like modes, maps and other things that would separate the playerbase will almost definitely be free to keep the game healthy. But things that are considered more fluff or cosmetic in nature will probably be things that we will have to pay for, either will a crap ton of in game currency or a few bucks of real life money. The devs need to keep the money rolling in as they continue to provide us with new content.

Well I mean they said they were adding free DLC, so why not add the 'Gender Unlocked Update Pack' or something? It was mean't to be in the game anyway I think, so I would be happy if they patched it in later, as I think they were rushed for the deadline, thus having to cut no gender locks and couch co-op.

Besides that... another guy who gets me.

I have already tried contacting the Devs because of this matter a while back.

Hopefully they get back to me soon with a positive response.

Yeah, I am just thinking that if they legitimately have not worked on a lot of the art assets for the missing gender options it would probably be a good amount of work to get them into the game. So I am thinking they would be looking for some type of compensation for that. I don't mind paying them if it is legitimate post release content that I really want. As long as they don't start releasing pay2win type of DLC, I am good. But for cosmetic stuff, I am cool with having to pay real money for it or grind the hell out of in game currency for it.

Besides, if it's a MP game I am really invested in I actually kind of like putting some money into it every now and then to show support of the continued updates and development. But right now, I am not even getting the Season Pass because I am unsure of whether those classes will be locked to one gender or another. Otherwise, I would have gotten it already.
