Mouse + Keyboard=recipe for a loss and inferior control method.

Ok, I spent innumerable hours playing the beta and loved every single moment of it, however after spending MOST of my time using and messing with the mouse+keyboard controls I can say that this control method is vastly inferior to the joypad which I plugged in for the last couple hours of testing. The reason for this is all about the mouse block/stance control. After dropping 25+ hrs into the game with mouse/keyboard I got pretty good at initiating feints, and performing well in both duels and 4v4 I began to notice that some people were far better than I in varying their slices and bashed mid-combo from left to right and back. The mouse just doesn't register the stances well and the TINIEST drift upwards, I mean infinitesimal levels, shifts the stance to top and wrecks most berserker combos right then and there. I set the mouse block sensitivity to zero and this still persisted. I remapped the black directions to some of my ancillary mouse buttons and this would have been an equitable solution, but i was unable to disable mouse control completely which led to even a vigorous left click shifting my stance in an unintended direction. I eventually (way too late in the game) began noticing the fluidity of control which some of my higher level opponents had once I hit prestige II. They shifted stances and blocked with unerring accuracy. I knew this was impossible with the keyboard so I plugged in my ps4 controll and OH MY GOD it was night and day, I was a stance shifting, combo-tastic animal from that moment on. Currently the mouse/keyboard system just sucks compared to the controller and unless you allow players to turn off mouseblock completely (not just set it to the ineffective blocksensitivity of zero) and remap it to buttons or a thumbhat, I don't see mouse+keyboard ever being a viable top-end function. Two cents dropped.

I agree, everything you have stated is correct to the best of my knowledge, the question is, what's the best alternative to mouse + keyboard, and is there one that could be better than simply removing using the mouse for block direction?

I am planning on using a ps4 controller for release unless they include the option to disable mouseblock completely, which would be my preference. If this happens I will buy a mouse additive like the razer nostromo and use the thumb controller for blocking/stance.

I use an razor orbweaver, and I tried using the thumbcontroller -- the issue is what you stated above, without the ability to disable mouseblock completely you still end up registering block redirection by clicking the mouse at times.

What sensitivity is your mouse on? I've found KB+M to be vastly more effective, especially with the placement of guard break.

Messed with my dpi quite a bit, both up and down as well as setting the guard sensitivity to zero in game. I cannot seem to "lock" my hand like I've heard others have success with so that I never accidentally drift while performing berserker infinite combos...IE I always go overhand before I intended to because of the lack of a true deadzone and (I'm sure) some flinching/subtle movements that are ingrained muscle memory in my m+kb operation. Anyway, I ordered a SCUF gaming ps4 controller so that I could use the underslung paddles for dodge/bockbreak and if mapping allows mouseguard to be completely disabled I would probably try an orbweaver/nostromo style combo with m+kb since I like almost everything else about that configuration better.
