Conq can land side heavies after GB's. That's pretty common knowledge...or should be anyway.

Overheads get blocked, side do not. This entire beta I have not had a side heavy blocked, nor in any of the previous ones.

If you want to watch hours of footage of me playing conq to verify, I can post the video links.

Confirmed yesterday. Free side heavy from a guard break every time.

The conqueror seems to lack practical tech and mobility in comparison and as far as advantages that the conqueror does have over warlord... it's a pretty short list.

A charged heavy attack is pretty much the only thing a conqueror has going for him and since charging drains stamina that's something that anyone can wait out and take away from the conqueror if they really want to.

Meanwhile the warlord has very practical block and counter options plus good ways of keeping fleeing players from getting away. Not to mention headbutt which is way harder to avoid than shield charge.

The heavy into shield charge combo I guess is pretty OK for the conqueror but again, it rarely is going to work against players who understand the conqueror's mechanics.

It just seems like the conqueror is really missing something to allow him to compete at the higher tiers once players figure out how to avoid his heavy charge attack.

In my opinion they need to give conqueror a solid dodge-attack so that he isn't so stationary...
    1) The Conquerors charged heavy attack is what make him a 'heavy hitter' over the 'harassing' in-and-out style of the overlord. Timing the charged heavy as part of your chain of attacks is part of the skill of playing as an offensive conqueror.
    2) The headbutt and shield bash as nearly identical attacks.
    3) If anything the conqueror becomes more effective and potent on the battlefield at higher levels/tiers. At low levels (before fine tuning to suit your fighting style) he is a pain, I will give you that much.

I felt like the two were too similar, if anything the Overlord could have a bit more passive agility traits and the Conqueror could have a bit more passive defense traits to make them more different because they are very similar.

Both are defensive/tanks on the battlefield, in my opinion it comes down to one following the motto of 'offense is the best defense' and the other is more 'defense is the best defense' being the differentiation.

Maybe you're more of an Overlord than a Conqueror my friend?

Okay, you can, but realistically you can't parry a flail since it's just going to swing around your weapon and hit you anyway.

A well played Warlord is harder to deal with than a well played Conq simply due to the variety and mix ups the Warlord has in addition to better speed. There's a reason that Warlords placed so well in the technical test tourney.
Sure, if you're ******ed enought to parry it striking next to the handle then you can't.

Yeah you can get a free side heavy on GB. My timing must have just been off during the closed beta. Was able to do it consistently in the OB though.

Warlord's nerfs were plenty to keep them from being overly oppressive to people's stamina bars and allowing conq to compete.

Saw a lot less warlord spamming all block headbutt this beta, so now it seems you have to have a little skill to play one functionally.

    Thread can die.

Yeah, try guard breaking anyone besides rookies, that is just blocking and not even parrying. He will just push you off.

It doesn't matter how you get the guard break, its a free side heavy regardless. High level games become a bit more of a guessing game, as parrying against someone that feints a lot is a bad idea.

Agree with OP. Dodge attacking is exactly what he needs to be viable in a duel setting. And I think balancing mechanics for duel is the correct approach. If he is a problem in dominion then they can adjust his feats.

As it is now, conqueror can do nothing against a defensive opponent. His heavy is easily dodged and has no form of poke or harassment without being in GB range.

He's my main and I love him and his broish ways, but right now he's just a ***** noob stomper against kids who can't dodge.
