also when i try to purchase the discount I get an error and I know I have over 100 uplay

I used my 20% off to pre-purchase For Honor for 48$ instead of $60. If it doesn't work for you, maybe it's region locked or has some other restriction.

I bought on Uplay. Why get Steam involved if you have to open Uplay anyway? Also, buying on Uplay allows you to play another game on Steam simultaneously, which I do all the time (think turn-based strategy games).
