This post is to try and have a serious discussion about the connectivity of P2P use in For Honor BETA.
P2P = Peer to Peer

Ok, so after reading a lot of complaints about the topic, I wanted to suggest a very VIABLE explanation, I would like you all to think about first before immediately just responding. I myself am a PC owner and have owned a Console also from the first PlayStation until the PlayStation 3. My experience with both platforms is what is leading me to writing this post.
My Beta Experience on the PC was Amazing, regarding the Beta-P2P it worked VERY Well , I had full Green bar connection the whole time, in my 2 days playing I experienced only a few 3/4 pause's in the game of a maximum 2 second delay before resuming. I have also had the ‘Sony Play Station Network’ experienced, and I know which is better.
Please remember these crucial points
1) Both the PC and Console are in the Same House (in fact just 2 meters away from each other)
2) Both PC and Console connect to the same House internet.
3) Both PC and Console are hard wired to the router (connected by cable not Wi-Fi).
So the results are very simple for me to state clearly and precisely,
• The PC can be gaming online, even switching between different game’s to validate with, a varied test pool. There is no lag, No teleporting, no twitching characters, just smooth nice great game play.
• At the EXACT same time I can connect my PlayStation to the Sony network and go online, here is where the experience changes GREATLY.
• A Lot (But not all the time) it will already start with struggling to connect to the network itself even maybe with authentication error messages. Understand this is the fault of the company that makes your console, I.E. Sony, X-Box.
• Finally you connect and go online and ‘Surprise’ your game is slow to join games, people are lagging, getting disconnected. The fault is again the company making your console, I my case Sony.
• I am looking at my PC working great, running around on For Honor no lagging or teleporting, our mobile phones are working great connected threw the same house internet Wi-Fi. We can check YouTube, video’s play no problem, back on the PlayStation, guess what, yup it’s all messed up still. Meanwhile back on the PC For Honor still going Great. Basically this went on and on, because the fault for the PlayStation experiencing connection/internet problems was Sony!
• The company’s behind your console’s are more responsible for your complaints then UbiSoft who you keep flaming for Sony and X-Box issues.
• Also for people not very experienced with the internet etc, please remember your local land line from your telephone company could be giving your bad internet experience, a faulty line, too much disturbance or interference during the transfer from station to your house.
• Also please remember You ALL decided to go ahead and pay Sony & X-Box monthly to play their games online, and now that your experience of For Honor is not a good one, you should do a little investigation and direct your complaints to Sony and X-Box. They are the ones who need to shape up.
• I saw the results for the end of BETA Leaderboard table’s I do not believe it is a coincidence that almost 98% of the players on the leaderboards are playing on the PC. A better connection/experience with the P2P then the consoles clearly had, why? Because your console network is overloaded.
All constructive posts are welcome and encouraged. I look forward to other people who can maybe provide similar PC/Console experiences and tests.

A much greater number of Consoles be it Xbox or PS4 is connected to a wifi network compared to PC gaming rigs which are usually hard wired.
Consoles are usually placed next to your TV where you usually cant really connect it other then with s medium to weak wifi signal and when someone else starts using the same wifi signal it will degenerate even further.
I would attribute most of the lag to this.
I was playing on PC and also had a green bar all the time. The Problem is not me lagging, it's the others lagging. And with P2P this can be a serious issue. Other people disconect and the match crumbles. It has nothing to do with myself having a bad connection or anything.

Thanks for the response, Ido believe people are placing WAY to much blame on Ubisoft here, it is why I started the post, to try and get to the truth. I see a lot of Views and no replies, I hope people are thinking about their response's and not just scared to admit these points could be Valid Reasons for their problems.
Be that as it may it still Ubisoft decision to save money and not go for dedicated servers which would at least lessen lag and game migration when losing hosts absolete.
There is no valid argument in favor of P2P over a dedicated servers network setup. OP you say that your connection was always fine, you had green bars etc. Thats great, but if the system selects a host that his connection is crap then you will have major problems as well, even if your setup is awesome. The random host dictates the playing experience of all the other players that are connected into the match. Also you say that you had some minor 2 sec delays until the next host was selected. Two seconds in an online fighting game are a HUGE deal especially during combat.
Me personally had a very bad experience during this beta and I was playing on my Xbox One. My connection was super smooth and I have my Xbox hardwired into my router. Out of 5 games I was able to finish only 1!!! I had constant matchmaking/connection errors followed by a number, and issues with hosts leaving the match and while the game was trying to select a new host, I was either dropped completely out of the game or I had major rollback teleporting...
A game of this type badly needs dedicated servers in order to be fair and smooth to all players. It seems that the issues are more obvious while playing 4v4 Dominion mode. I had way fewer issues in 1v1 and 2v2 battles.
The core gameplay of this game is very solid and enjoyable, but if they released it with no dedicated servers support, then its a no buy for meI dont know maybe they will have a godly new P2P technology at release that will fix all the issues but I highly doubt it.
I played the beta on PC. I always had a full green bar on the game screen but many of the other people I played against had red bars. I experienced disconnects from 4vs4 games about three out of every four games on the first day I played, and then on the second I think I got to play one 4vs4 without a disconnect, and that was after a couple of hours of trying to play 4vs4 and being constantly disconnected, either part way through a game or just after starting a game.

- Yes this is my point you’re on console in this case X-Box. In my test's I used a Console to Sony PS3.

- You contradict yourself by saying 'My connection was super smooth' then next complaining about your Poor experience with lag, connections and being dropped. You are kind of proving the point of this post. I too was hardwired into my router as was stated.

- Please understand i am not saying dedicated servers will/would not be better, and it is one solution for the Host drop problem, recoding the game could do this to I assume. The post is simply to discuss where the Actual problem lies and put this opinion forward as a Cause, from my own personal experience with both products. It is my belief people are too harsh on UbiSoft when they should be looking at X-Box and Sony, who take your money for the 'Online Experience' and yet we constantly hearing about overloaded networks and customers not being able to get online.
I greatly appreciate your time, input, ideas and suggestions. Thanks.
It seems you are not really serious or open minded about speculating on what the cause of the disconnect issue might be, since you just ignore any information that doesn't fit into your preconceived concept of what the issue is.Originally Posted by DemoAdra Go to original post
Your whole idea that the fault lies in Sony or Microsoft's hands is completely undermined by the fact that many people experience the same issues on PCs, and the fact that people can and do play other online games without constant disconnects on their ps4 or xbox. In fact I think your whole approach of trying to blame someone for the issue (or let's call it what it really is- an effort to displace the blame), is misguided. Please take the experience of people who had terrible disconnect issues seriously, because if the problem persists post launch it would be disastrous for the game.

- Not ignoring anything, the purpose of the post is to get information on the topic

- It’s a suggestion, and most PC's players are not complaining much regarding connectivity. I am Open for PC X-BOX and Sony players to share their experiences to find out some information.

- Again you’re simply not reading or understanding the post. It is to gather information. You are all so quick to blame and flame Ubisoft right away.

- Yes where taking it seriously, by discussing a possibility for the problem. Asking people for their experiences and tests! Can you say anything constructive? Provide any tests? Evidence for what you are saying?
Thank you for your post and time all the same![]()
