one of those things i see a lot of people completely misunderstanding in this forum is throwing or, the equivalent mechanic in for honor, guard breaking. now i don't claim to be an expert on fighting games but i like to think i know more than most about how and why mechanics are supposed to work. throwing in fighting games is there purely to punish people for blocking too much and stops people from just turtling and waiting for you to throw out something unsafe. teching (guard break counter) is only there so that you cant just abuse it predictably if it were possible to tech throws on reaction then the mechanic would become pointless and leave no way to break break the defense of someone with half a brain. in general the best way to avoid being thrown is to simply attack as you shouldn't be able to be thrown if you are in the middle of an attack animation. in for honor with the mechanics as they are. you are almost encouraged to wait for people to throw out their guard break and react as you cant tech people in the first few frames of the animation. the backwards guard break tech mechanics, feinting parries to make them 100% safe on feint and revenge mode are almost entirely the reason for the passivity of high level play. fix/ remove these mechanics and possibly add some sort of dizzy mechanic (maybe stamina loss on block and a short period where you cant regain stamina after blocking) and you will greatly improve this otherwise amazing game.
if anyone who knows more about fighting games than me wants to correct me or chime in please do.
p.s. i know its totally possible to to be guard broken mid swing(it happens to me all the time) but this is an issue with the net code not favoring the attacker like any good net code should and not a problem with the guard break(I hope).
I'm not going to repeat myself here. II'll just just say this. Keep the teching for Gb as it is now.
i wasn't trying to advocate for the timing being dramatically lowered. i'm just saying that if i hit my guard break at the same time as my opponent that it should result in a tech (and that is not, as far as i could tell, how the beta was set up to behave) and that i should not be able to tech it on reaction in the middle of a complex block string which seems to be what a lot of people want.
I kinda agree, it should just cancel out if both try it at the same time. There were times where they would guardbreak me and the shield would show up so id try to counter it, but the p2p apparently thought i tried to guard break first and theyd counter me instead.Originally Posted by ppixelss Go to original post
You do realise your all talking about a something that is not Real? and has no place in a fighting game in the first place.
IT Should be removed from the game. Read why from below link

The GAME is Otherwise AMAZING TBH![]()
Not gona lie I chucked at reading that. Is good joke dah?Originally Posted by DemoAdra Go to original post
I did not read your link, but almost every fighting game I played have this mechanic in it. Somone trying to go for a throw, you break free of it. Oponent blocking, you go for a throw.Originally Posted by DemoAdra Go to original post
In fighters whenever two people try to throw it will get teched (in the neutral of course). Here it's one will beat the other. They don't cancel eachother out if preformed at the same time.
Ok but a throw is a throw attempt not a braking of someone's gaurd, and if someone is trying to throw me like you say and i want to brake free, why am i thrown of cliffs without a strugle in the World? either both players are going over or none, because the defender is AlWAYS taking the other guy/girl to his death with him.Originally Posted by iHunny Go to original post
The ONLY real reason i see this mechanic in the game is because for some reason they gave characters the ability to just block from ALL directions at the same time?? ehh WTF? Also complete CRAP.
A TRUE gaurd brake is achived as stated in my post, NOT with the magic click of a button that, hey, does ALLLLL the hard work for you.
