I swear I can remember some post or what-not that I read from Ubisoft stating that there would be the option to change the gender of all characters. I see that it isn't the case now, yet personally I would really like to see that changed. I've seen a lot of arguments that it is for realism/historical accuracy and such, but in my opinion, with all that this game IS, genders isn't really where an improvement on historical accuracy should be made. Anywhooo, I'm curious about other peoples thoughts on this, and of course, if this might be changed on release.
Considering how much emphasis this game puts on customization (what with all the colours and patterns and emblems and whatnot) I think it's baffling to imagine the currently gender-locked classes staying that way after launch. There's no point to it other than restricting player customisation.
The only one that sort of makes sense is the Valkyrie, but even that is 100% down to the name of the class, and even then the lore behind them is they're just warriors fighting for those who didn't die in battle to "earn them a place" in Valhalla. And I think it'd be cool to allow the dudes to do that too, I'd happily play a viking guy with feminine armour/hair if it meant getting to use a cool spear and shield combo.
I'm hoping that the class restrictions are just a result of the beta being unfinished and Ubisoft wanting to keep things clipped and clear-cut before release gives us all the fluff and polish stuff. There is literally no down side to allowing every class to be both genders.
I agree. Would love to play as a male assassin. Overall, I love all the customization options for all the heroes and had a blast playing the beta!
Gender customization is ok but could be female/male for all
Yeah, I would have loved to have gotten a female Lawbringer as an option. Hopefully the missing gender options aren't completely out of the question for future content. I would love to see every class with full male/female options.
