I've always enjoyed medieval style games and no game really seems to capture the setting just right. For Honor is no exception.

I've suspended my disbelief on how or why the Japanese crossed china to do battle with vikings and Knights but I must admit the viking's size made me smile (the English called them giants).

It displeases me to hear so many female characters in the game. Humans are a very sexually dimorphic species and women are weaker physically. Perhaps there is the exception of the viking women who fought alongside the men in some cases and were also bigger than their opponents. I understand your need to please the modern feminists and social justice warriors as I'd imagine they heckle you constantly. I also understand this game wasn't meant to be historically accurate and that you're mainly concerned with the gameplay aspect.

Which leads me to...

The gameplay was interesting at first. It had a very simple learning curve and it was easy to learn how things worked but it quickly turned into Lotr conquest without archers or mages. Yes, I compared this to an Lotr game.

I have listed several problems as well as potential fixes(constructive criticism)

~command posts

Three seconds is way too fast to claim a command post. Absolutely ludicrous speed. I'd recommend you use battlefield 1's system of time and a neutral space between them. A friend of mine who joined my in my conquest said "The game has no flow".

~The combat

The combat system was easy to learn as far as strong attack, weak attack, blocking, basically anything universal for any class. The main problem I have is the different button combinations needed to access class exclusive moves. Each class has different combinations which means only hardcore players will truly memorize them or at least only master one class. I'd recommend having the same button combos while still maintaining the unique attacks of each class. It is easier to learn.

I'd also like to add that the only effective way to fight the enemy is to gank them. While this is annoying in the extreme it is accurate. I'd counsel you to up the player count to at least 8 (I'd personally choose 16) just because 3v5 odds are far more preferable than 1v2 in a gank scenario and will help curb frustrations and add glory.

The men at arms are dumb as a box of rocks and half as useful. They move like sheep in a cluster with the wolves (players) moving among them. I'd recommend serious changes to them. Possibly weaker bots or at minimum some sort of buff so the weakest character class can't topple them in a swing. Maybe let them break off and capture side posts?Something needs done to improve them.

Ranged weapons need to be added. This is a must. Crossbows, longbows, spears and repeating crossbows. Crossbows and bows for the knights, longbows and spears for the vikings and bows, and repeating crossbows(semi auto crossbows you cannot aim and instead hip fire) and bows for the Japanese. Without ranged combat you seriously limit your player base from those who like such roles.

~Maps

The maps looked pretty epic. Not much to criticize here as far as looks. The surroundings were distracting. I wanted to just take the time and explore them and only when I did I realized how small they were. People expect the Grandeur of battle! Not a 4v4 with AI grunts that walk a straight line. Maps need to be bigger while retaining all that beauty and immersion. I should also note the traps were pointless.

~customization

I'm gonna be honest(mainly because I'm hiding behind a keyboard miles away). The reason this game got old before the beta ended is because customization is aesthetic only . Sure you can make a sigil and all that and toggle minute aspects of the class but this game needs SERIOUS overhauls in customization. You should take a look at chivalry and take note of their weapons. Still keep your classes but give players more options. Give the heavy, medium and lights all physically different weapons to choose from and you'll keep your class system while improving how each player's combat style is unique. If I were you I'd limit ranged weapons to light characters but that is only a suggestion. A lot of games include a bizarre weapon mainly used for trick kills that is so pathetic that it shames anyone killed by it such as the 2mm handgun from battlefield and you should too. It also needs to add new armor (looks only unless you feel like making it statistically different). Possibly capes with your sigil or having it on your shield?

As of now I'd give it a 3/5 stars. Based on what I didn't like I originally gave it a 2.5/5 but for reasons unknown I changed my mind.

I hope you guys can fix this. In this state I'd not buy the game but with those improvements I would.
