The Guard Break is currently too easy to do without repercussions this is especially apparent when you consider what you can do with a guard break.
Most classes can start a chain or perform a heavy attack off a guard break that is indefensible and sometimes you can be thrown off a cliff and the peacekeeper, in particular, can kidney stab half your health away. Meanwhile, if you manage to pull off a guard break counter against all odds then all that happens is you push them back, no stun, no advantage whatsoever for doing the hardest thing in the game even harder than parry.
I simply suggest you give a little more leeway with the guard break counter so you have to actually surprise your opponent with it; This will also give more legitimacy to certain classes moves which function as an uninterruptible guard break or throw, namely the Conquerer and Warlord's shield bash and Wardens shoulder bash even the Raider's charge move.
I definitely agree but i don't think they should be make it easier to counter the guard-break, but instead make it that if you do, you get a big reward.
I think countering a guard-break should knock the initial guard-breaker over or stun them, rather than just shove them back.
Guard Break is definitely broken. There is no punishment for just spamming it and no punishment for getting anti guard broken.
The best way to fix this is that when you anti guardbreak some one they should fall to the ground. It will make them think twice about spamming it and is a good reward for outplaying your opponent. It is not broken because you have to know when someone is going to guardbreak you. Also the guard break should have less range. It is really hard to play as a shield character because people always spam guardbreak. UBISOFT PLEASE FIX!!!!!
I get that for some people guard break is hard to counter. But I've played against people who have blocked every single one of my guard break attempts. If you aren't able to react in time to push them off, then you can simple predict if they will do it. Are you on a bridge? Chances are, they are gonna spam guard break. I don't even try to counter guard breaks. I find that the most effective way to stop them is by using a lot of light attacks. There is no hero that gets guard broke when they light attack in the entire game, if you come across people spamming guard break or who you think or gonna push you off, be more aggressive. Use light attacks to stop their attack and fend them off and create distance. Ask yourself this. Have you ever been in a fight against someone who was attacking the poop out of you and dared to try to guard break them? If you answered yes, theres a large probability you got hit in the top of the head. People think they are smart, they see an aggressive opponent and think, "i shouldnt guard break them because then i risk taking a lot of damage". Use their own cleverness against them. The trick is to get your opponent to play how you want them, not respond to everything you do. If you arent quick enough to react to the guard break, then dont. Use the guard breaks weakness against it. Balancing the guard break itself is a very delicate thing. If Ubisoft increases the window to react, many people will claim that the guard break has become useless and that there is no reason at all to even use it. I honestly don't care what happens to the guard break. I just want to make sure that people know that there are ways to beat it. Having played the game for a long time is no excuse to just slam on a feature you "dislike" if you havent actually examined it. Many people get killed by getting stabbed or thrown off a bridge and scream like babies like, "thats so ******ed, its so brokkkkennnn". Instead, just ask yourself, how could I have prevented that?
After having finished the beta, I do understand now that it isn't so much of a problem and can be countered in the ways you mentioned. However, I still feel there should be a repercussion for failing a guard break as the push back feels to light of a punishment. I'm not saying it has to be major, just enough for it to be something people consider before trying it.
