Just wanted to take a moment to thank the Ubi devs for actually making this game fully playable for single-player-only gamers who enjoy squad-based tactical shooters and open worlds. I've been waiting YEARS for a new tactical shooter that actually doesn't forget single-player gamers who just want to have a squad of AI-controlled teammates to whom we can issue basic orders that they carry out. THIS is how I achieve immersion in games like this--not through co-op or other multiplayer modes. I honestly could not care less for co-op and stuff like that, and I don't want to play with other people online; I'd rather play at my own pace and in my own way (and with no Internet lag and such). It's been so long since the last Ghost Recon game, and Rainbow Six is now dead to me (thanks to RS: Siege, which was a multiplayer-only romp that doesn't appeal to me in the slightest). So thank you, Ubisoft, for not forgetting the rest of us. It's nice to see the return of squad commands for AI teammates. I swear, this is a dying genre.
Not to rain on your parade but Future Soldier had a squad that you can command as well, albeit, only to syn shot which seems like this is what your teammates will be able to assist here as well... assumption taken from all the Solo gameplay Hype videos. But beta is said will be the decider so only 1 more week of hype to endure.
Same here. I'd have preferred the extra depth for team mate control, but the single player game is a great experience and you really have to consider your approach and consider your tactics.Originally Posted by DanHibikiFanXM Go to original post
It is a shame that the genre has been so criminally overlooked in recent years. When I go back to the original rainbow six, which i do with some regularity and get into the planning phase on some of those misisons, I cannot describe how satisfying a perfectly executed plan is. My first reaction to the AI squad commands in GRW was negative, I was annoyed that the 3 man squad would be commanded as a blob with no direct control over where and how they would deploy during attack/defend scenarios and the like. But after considering the zero control we had in GRFS and the lack of single player entirely in RS siege, I would also like to say thank you. And I hold out hope for a more robust system in future titles
Well, it could be just me but there is not much command on sending 3 guys to the same spot all the time because they are afraid to go alone. To me, command the ai means I can position each one of them where I want or need. For that I rather go at it alone, like we have seen on mostly all videos or just take 1... less chance of enemy seeing the whole blob of them going together holding hands and singing Kumbaya.Originally Posted by C-Pick Go to original post![]()
Good Post and I agree 100%. People are always complaining but speaking for me I only game for about an hour a day. Wildlands is right up my alley because I have been waiting for a Tactical Game set in an open world. I will be playing on Ghost difficulty to keep that immersion all the way in play.
Yeah, seeing that there's actually a squad command system after literally no command for AI teammates in GR:FS is just a relief that there might be more complex in the future and it's not completely forgotten by AAA studio. I was suprised really when I first saw and couldn't believe my eyes what I'm seeing, it's like almost back to those years when tac shooters had their own place so I'm not gonna be a ******bag and say "it's not enough" but instead I want to thank you Ubisoft for not forgotten us, PVE SP gamers entirely.Originally Posted by C-Pick Go to original post
We have a saying in the Army. "Two is one, one is none". The moral of the story is you don't send a mate out to fight alone. All commands are issued in "bricks." I agree that a 3 man brick vs a team leader is a weird combination. maybe the devs can work on an update that will split the groups evenly (eg: one soldier stays and covers you, while the other two form a brick for you to separately command).Originally Posted by GiveMeTactical Go to original post
