Having played the game since closed Alpha I have been able to develop a build and level a character a few times to try it out. Overall I think the game is in a pretty good place, but I noticed that something was keeping me from playing day in and day out during the testing phases and that is the reward system for a match.
At this point it feels like the only time worth playing the game is when your orders have reset and I feel that is only the case because a single match is simply not rewarding enough and could use some changing. Before anyone jumps to conclusions I am not looking for better or more gear. Read: items.
Here is a scenario. You play a match, you dominate even though it is a tough fight. You win the round and you get your XP, but you find no loot. Well heck, how many heroes did you kill? What about all the soldiers? You are going to tell me there is not a single piece of metal, leather, or piece of scrap across the entire battlefield that isn't usable?THAT is what bugs me. You feel like you have earned nothing. I think that roll of "nothing found" be replaced with a small amount of steel. A random roll somewhere between 5 - 10 pieces. I think that offer something to work for when orders have been completed. Yes, we have the faction war to work towards, but there is ultimately nothing in the short term (besides orders). This will allow people to grind out upgrading their gear at a steady pace and will increase player retention in the short term.
