The Pakhan got his "Ferociuos" talent changed into a weaker one in the PTS. With the new weapon talent, this weapon is pretty much nerfed. The new talent sounds useless considering that this weapon already comes with a big magazine size. I really like the look and feel of the weapon and I don't want to see it getting nerfed so bad. So I've thought about a weapon talent that wouldn't be too strong, but also not too weak.
My 3 ideas for the exotic weapon talent for the Pakhan:
Feeding Bird: Killing a target increases your weapon damage by X% for 10 seconds. Does not stack.
The Fearless: 50% of your magazine deals X% more damage.
Phantom: Killing a target increases your sprint speed by X%
What do you guys think of this? If you have any better suggestions, just post it down.
Why do people think adding more bullets to a gun is a nerf? More Bullets = More Damage
and its magazine size is the biggest weakess of RPK style guns.
Plus damage to elites is slowly being taken out of the game...its not even a major stat anymore. This change will give Pahkan more sustained damage which is what you need in PVE.
As I've already mentioned, this weapon has already a decent magazine size. With the new weapon talent in the PTS, they're trying to make this weapon become a M60 & M249. It will deal 10% less damage in endgame content without Ferocious, so it will pretty much get a damage nerf. Ferocious is a top-tier endgame talent. I think the new weapon talent that has been introduced to it is pretty much useless for the Pakhan.Originally Posted by S3anS3an Go to original post
Compared to other LMGs the Pahkan magazine is sub par.Originally Posted by InstantParty030 Go to original post
There's a reason why extended magazine is the only choice as a magazine mod in this game.
..per second. Pakhan's new talent isn't a flat damage increase.Originally Posted by S3anS3an Go to original post
Damage to elites still is king in PVE. Ferocious made the Pakhan a top weapon since the game launched. It had the perfect talents and then the LMG damage talent made this thing godly in PVE.
Now it's going to take longer to do the exact same damage you could've done with the regular talent setup.
More bullets just means more sponginess incoming
Have to agree that the unique talent is indeed a weak replacement for the Ferocious. The reason why DTE is being placed as a minor attribute is that the devs view it as a situational DPS buff. And due to the emergence of Legendary mode DTE is perceived to have reduced importance. However I do beg to differ, elite NPCs is still prevalent in challenge mode missions and they also appear in Legendary missions as well.Originally Posted by S3anS3an Go to original post
A larger sized magazine does not dismiss the fact that against elites, you are losing 10% extra damage. A weaker weapon also means I would need to expend more rounds from a diminishing ammo pool to take down an enemy. I may have more rounds per magazine when the talent procs, however I need to increase exposure to enemy fire to deal damage, that to me does not sound efficient at all.
Also brought up from the other replies is the general consensus, that the Pakhan does not have an issue with magazine size. 45 rounds (boosted to 95) when using an extended mag mod is more than sufficient IMO.
That is a really good point. And LMG's are a lot harder to control in the console version, too. The Hungry Hog is going to end up being something console players will actively avoid, unless they enjoy missing a lot lol. Perhaps the idea behind the new Pakhan was an attempt at balancing this fact out?Originally Posted by Merphee Go to original post
