    Deflection Timing

I think that there should be some sort of visual aid to help with the timing of dodge deflection stuff. I've been playing the Berserker and the Orochi, and while I understand that timing the deflections properly and learning the timing of each class is part of the challenge and skill involved, sometimes it seems incredibly difficult to judge what the game means when it says "just before it hits" which leads to a lot of getting hit or dodging into a strike, since besides the actual motion of the blade there's no real way to judge it, and some characters have very hard to time strikes compared to others.

agree with that, allthough if it was too easy, counter-attackers would be way too easy to play as.

instead of a visual warning, maybe just a bit wider window would fix that?

That could work too, either way. The way it is now actually getting a deflection seems like almost as much luck as skill. I remember when counters only required a last minute block and it was pretty overpowered, but the way it is now is a bit too much in the other direction, to the extent that I almost never see the classes with deflection actually use it, since it's so unreliable for the purpose.

The more I play Orochi the more I agree with this too. Even if I dodge properly and don't take damage, it doesn't give me the deflect, if I dodge INTO the direction of the attack properly I still take damage. I'm failing to understand why I should get punished for playing a character when the red attack indicator appears and I dodge into that direction and still take damage, same with blocking and those classes. I go to block in the correct direction when the indicator shows up, yet I still take damage.

You guys just need to learn to time it.

I think the issue is WHAT are we timing it off of, hence the indicator. If you time it off of the red arrow it's not always a deflect and it's not even always a dodge.

I think its cool that there isn't a hud to show when to do the deflects IMO. The key to getting deflections is to reaaaalllly pay attention to the actual person swinging at you, only look at the hud to know what direction to dodge into. Actually look for your opponents weapon coming toward you and then dodge into it, don't rely on the hud.

while this is true this is also untrue, there are come characters who literally have the ability to throw a volley of attacks so fast that you can't properly dodge them let alone block them, Orochi is ****ing notorious for this whether it's because Orochi is broken as **** like some think or just that everyone else is grossly underpowered because the defense system is ****ing clunky as hell this is a huge problem especially because it means that classes who require higher risk to actually play see little to no reward most games because they just get slaughtered by the first person spamming light attacks that manages to hit them once. I can't tell you the number of times as Berserker that I've literally been stagger locked to death by an Orochi, Kensai, Warden, or Conqueror spamming light attacks who managed to get a hit on me while I'm trying to dodge and deflect their ******** and just end up watching myself stagger to death while I frustratingly attempt to start dodging or blocking them again. about 85% of the time it ends in me dead without ever having a chance to counter attack or retaliate at all, and in the rare situation that it doesn't it's because I happen to have maybe gotten a couple good deflects and blocks in before hand so I get to pop revenge and do a couple hits or maybe get lucky and finish them off before they inevitably do it again two seconds later.

i have the same probem with parry, and the wardens double strike and the counter attack.

the system*does not give me*feedback, i can learn from. most of the time, it is pure luck and luck is not a good teacher. or maybe the action window is too small for me.

btw .. the "how to play" videos are too small on console.*they should be*full screen.

Just go into practice and learn to time it. I think it's perfect the way it is. It shouldn't be easy.
