Yep, you were also sharing your opinion and I said many times that your opinion is ok. What was not nice from you was that if anyone else has different opinion, you was just calling how long did he play that he told that, that you have played for xx hours etc. so it looks like he cannot be truth just because you played xx hours and you dont even know if he played more hours than you or if he played less, but that doesnt matter how long did he play. Even if he would play just for 2 hours, he would know what is comfortable for him, if he is able to put blocks in the right direction etc. And I think asking someone how long did he play is pointless since imho the majority of players who signed to beta spend a lot of time in this awesome game :POriginally Posted by Elebreon Go to original post
So dont worry, I am in full respect to anyone who respect the others also and I dont think that anyone who has different opinion is moron
Okay, I took it.Originally Posted by Trustful_Whale Go to original post
Yep, the difference in feedback is quite vast as joysticks has mechanical springs returning them back to neutral position and because of the mouse sends just that direction change (which is immediate, lets say - if you will move the mouse for a 10 cm to the right and just 1 mm to the left, the mouse will change your guard to the left) and joystick sends the ...lets say it simply... actual value of its deviation from the neutral position, if you move the joystick 10 cm (just an example value) to the right and 1 cm to the left, the joystick would still send its input as 90 % pointing to the right, guarding your right side. This is the joystick's advantage but also disadvantage - if you want to guard another direction quickly, you need to flick the joy very fast where the mouse will change it immediately with just a slight movement - so it is an advantage of the mouse but also a disadvantage as you said - even a 1 dot movement can change your guard direction.
The dead zone of joystick is there just because of quality of sensors and those springs returning it to the neutral position, it is easy to make dead zone for joysticks you can set to ignore any input from the joystick lesser than for example 10 % to be ignored because it sends values from -100 % to 100% (not exactly because it sends different electricity impulses (language issues -.-), but to make it simple...) and the value is send immediately what is awesome. In mouse mechanic, there is different approach so acutal dead zone would be just delayed movement. That mean that having any kind of dead zone in mouse means another disadvantage compared to controllers. The dead zone would be something like if for xxx ms (combined with maths of sensitivity) you are moving towards the same direction, then change guard direction otherwise ignore that movement. So a controller would send its input immediately, but a mouse would send it delayed and that can be a disadvantage (can be but also dont need to be...depends on the time of delay - the more time and sensitivity delayed, the more precise but also slower feedback for the guard direction). Similar approach is for counting if you moved the mouse more to top or to right to give the exact guard direction. It may be delayed and it depends on how it is made and what the feedback will be. It may be meaningless delay but it may also be (even more with possible lag) a noticable delay. As I told - first day I played with mouse I feel like the response was immediate, second day (yes, I didnt notice any patch so it was not changed, probbably) I felt it like there was like few hunderds of ms delay.
So..having dead zones for joysticks and for mices is kind of very different thing with a different approach.
Well I believe you know this, but not everyone mentioning a dead zone for mices here on the thread and other posts in this section does. So please, be polite![]()
Call it what you will, post threads and replies, write essays to debunk it but the simple fact of the matter is MOUSE DEFENSE IS INFERIOR.
Against Tank and Vanguard classes it works fine due to the speed of their attacks and chains you are able to make corrections in the appropriate time window.
Assassin combos however are too quick and erratic and the constant flailing of the mouse simply does not work in an effective enough way due to many of the points outlined here.
And before anyone writes "Git good" I have been PC gaming since the early 90's the only console i ever owned was a PS one, i got a high DPI/Response rate mouse punched in to my resoltuon, I am familiar with the M+KB setup to the point that moving and targeting with the mouse is mainly muscle memory due to years of FPS games. I am also profficient in precision mouse movement as I have been Raid tanking in WoW for some... 11 years now? And if anyone tanked at a competitive level you know how much precision and target swapping between both the screen and UI elements the game requires.
The mouse input is just broken and counter intuitive( and don't start with the M&B argument or chivalry please) See what happens when you are meeting the business end of a competent berserker and then tell me it's effective.
Ive played around with the idea of assassin controllers vs KB+M defenders, got a friend to go into duels with me 1v1 literally his first time playing, I was not able to defend, and defending was all i did for testing purposes....![]()
at the end of the day if i end up playing this game to the point that I hope I will , simply buying a XBONE controller or a PS one is going to be something i have to do, as i quite honestly don't see how the devs could address the problems with mouse defense in this game.
Well, mouse defense is inferior for YOU and some other guys. It is not inferior for other guys. Why do you still flame? Why dont you just tell "For me it is also bad" and thats it? If you didnt read the thread about what is going on in those posts, I found it kind of silly to react on them.
But no matter...I dont care anymore. You have other choices and also you wrote alone that you even dont know how they can solve it so it looks like kind of mechanics issue doesnt it?If it is not comfortable for you, use another method or practise that. Otherwise you may write billions of posts about it is not good for some guys, but nothing will ever change.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------( Hi guys!! I think the game is a lot of fun, but I hate dominion, because of being a mess in the fights, and in duel should the admin, have on the server, some software that detects who is using keyboard or control, and separate these players ,, to be fair to the fights. and another, it is without logic you take punches or be charged and your stamina ends, without logic this.)
