wtf are you on about re plate armour? slowing them to a crawl? difficult to get up? Stop reading fantasy novels or playing D&D to get your armour knowledge! Full plate will easily allow for running, jumping, getting up and down and even doing cartwheels!!Originally Posted by TheCadian_ Go to original post
Historically these warriors were pretty much in armour every day! their bodies were used to its weight and the arming jackets and belts distributed that weight so that it didnt feel heavy or cumbersome. The Warden would essentially be so at home in their armour it wouldnt hinder them at all!

crappy video but it does make the point in places! and these people are NOT conditioned to wearing plate like the Warden would be!
now yes; they wont be as fleet of foot as the PK in ultra light armour etc...
but to suggest the plate would be a hindrance? tosh
Warden? Weak? What?
Play the game more before making such claims please.
I agree that the warden is underwhelming visually and stylistically, compared to the other classes. Particularly in how he uses his weapon - the longsword. They went and implemented fancier moves for the other classes, but the Warden was sadly forgotten, it seems. I was bugged by how he didn't have a single thrusting attack vs players in any of his attacks or chains, meanwhile someone like the Kensei, with his slashing oriented weapon, has. Or look at the Raider and how he uses that axe. He slashes, he bashes, he uses the handle in his combos too. Meanwhile the Warden, having possession of a longsword, known for its versatility, can only clumsily slash, as if his weapon doesn't even have a sharp tip. There are so many things that could have been incorporated into the Warden's combos- thrusts, pommel/handle strikes, stuff like that. It's sad to see such a cool looking class and such a versatile weapon wasted on such a basic moveset. Every other class in the game has more things to play with now than he does. Which Is sad. I get it, he's supposed to be a jack of all trades, but that still doesn't mean he can't have some more variety to him. Hell, being a jack of all trades should mean MORE variety, not less.
Unfortunately, they are probably too far into the development process to add such things now, and I somewhat doubt they will majorly change a class after release. A shame, really. Longsword is my favorite medieval weapon and it's sad to see it underutilized in such a way.
That said, purely from class balance perspective, I don't think the Warden needs any buffs. I've been practically maining him for duels and 2v2 in the beta and I can't say I ever ran into a situation or an enemy where the tools at the Warden's disposal were not enough to defeat them. But that's besides the point. What I think the Warden severely lacks, compared to the other classes, is flare. That could be improved, because now, like the OP said, it is painfully clear that the Warden was the first class to be developed.
A nice Warden video, the should charge after two side attacks is NOT guaranteed to hit. It's a nice combo but as invincible as sometimes said.

The warden would be better off with his shoulder charge replaced with something else, preferably a more fencing, stabby move since shoulder charge is problematic and arguably op and its incredibly similar to conq shield charge. And having two characters heavily rely on the same ability is bad.
Yeah, definitely not invincible. Probably the best Berserker I've seen so far, but I haven't really been looking for 'em haha. Leave it to the Korean's to take something to the top quickly, lmao. I'm surprise that the Warden didn't commit to a Crushing Counter once, it's superbly hard to get punished on the first strike if it turned out to be a feint. 90% of that fight was feints though, so maybe that had something to do with it.Originally Posted by Rosesoup Go to original post
In the interest of discussing Warden not sucking and people needing to L2P, here's another vid:
The only change I'd like to see is an additional closer move besides Shoulder Bash, some kind of Poke; as it stands right now Warden doesn't initiate well. He definitely punishes mistakes like a champ, but you need to know how to bait those mistakes; I think that's where people get Warden being under-powered: A lot of people just don't understand the head-game yet and are consequentially bad at it.
Dear Readers:
Good fighters wait for openings. Great fighters create openings.
P.S. If you think plate armor is slow, heavy, or restricts mobility, I encourage you to try on a suit of 15th century Milanese. There's more to plate than plate + hauberk, a full suit weighs less than 40 pounds.
I will not say Warden is underpowered because he isn't,but I do hate the shoulder bash. It's a decent move if landed but real easy to side step.I'd rather they replace shoulder bash with something else in my opinion.
