I understand that Warden is the New Player class (and i rly like his Style so it would be a shame to keep him in this State)
BUT
he is super dull ... give him some fancy stuff better/advanced player can use... (I don`t say he is underpowered but he is just boring too play duno).
I am not trying to be an ***, but I had the pleasure of playing against Kakku recently in a 2v2 and his/her Warden is one of the best I have played...so you might want to rethink your stance on this matter.Originally Posted by AveImperator85 Go to original post
I play Kensei as my main and I am not going to cry that he is weak or whatever, but his dash left/right attacks are an immediate parry against any decent player. It can be useful for avoiding an attack and getting in a poke, but you are dead if you just whip it out as an opener.
And when you say that the "unblockable attack cannot be defended against if the opponent is still reeling" what do you mean? Do you mean after you bounce them off a wall? Because that is correct, but that goes for pretty much any class. Every class pretty much gets a free overhead heavy after bouncing someone off of a wall (unless it's a class that pushes them self away from their opponent like some of the assassins). If you are not wall bounced, you can parry their unblockable and if they cancel it into the side finisher you can parry that as well. You can also guard break them when they are transitioning from the overhead to the side finisher.
Now don't get me wrong, it can still lead to some decent mixups because you can feint out of either the overhead unblockable or the side transition. This could potentially throw off your opponent. But sometimes it's tough even trying to get to your three attack chain for the finisher. Against better players it's sometimes necessary to start your attacks from out of range completely just to get to your unblockable.
Anyway, that is just my experience with the Kensei. I am not saying he is weak (apparently Kakku thinks so, so maybe I need to take a step back and reevaluate, actually), but to say that the Warden is underpowered compared to the other Vanguards seems a bit shortsighted. Some of the toughest opponents I have gone against have been Wardens who are patient and only use safe, quick attacks (overhead light, zone attack). That's been my experience, anyway.
Take care.
I agree. Warden is outshined or the player skill need to be way higher to do well with it. a dash lunge attack to get those fools running away would be nice. I found this was the only class in the beta that I got completely destroyed consistently. When playing other classes I never felt remotely threatened by a warden and always knew it was an easy kill unless it was 2 on 1.
Well, it would seem everyone thinks the shoulder bash which i have only landed a few times out 300 or so tries, is the most op move for wardens. Im sorry to inform you guys, but just side step its that easy.
I mained a warden i love the warden but not because hes strong but because i like him. so i practiced his 2 special moves and became really good at parrying (something every other hero can do).
All my victories are with skill NOT by bleed or universal shield blocking or throwing people off things or a vast amount of special moves or grab attacks or more bleed or even a bunch of unblockable attacks. All this hate is unwarented the warden is the weakest hero of all. I even laughed when other wardens have tryed to shoulder bash me and just side steped.
I do think there should be a warden buff but not to become op, i like him a little underpowered. I think they should add just one more special move, nothing fancy just something to spice things up and a small buff to his HP. After all he is the ONLY CHARACTER WITH FULL STEAL PLATE ARMOR. Why does he have medium HP?! Ubisoft muscles dont stop swords, but METAL WILL!
This concludes my post i hope you enjoyed this first hand warden info.
I don't know if I'd agree they are the weakest class, they most certainly aren't even if they do lack some of the flashier abilities or moves.Originally Posted by REDrat-3 Go to original post
Honestly IMO the Warden makes up for the lack of these abilities with basic utilities that other classes don't seem to have a combination of. A quick zoning attack as an interrupt, a sightly longer ranged guard break, a free uninterruptible/unblockable second light attack, and a fair stamina allotment.
Oh and let's not forget those incredible perks they have in Dominion. Thick Blood to make them immune to all standard bleed damage at rank two, Second Wind for free four heals in combat at rank three, and finally they start with Catapult as their unlocked rank four.
As for that point about plate armour you have to consider the disadvantages of it if you want to get technical and represent the protection I would give accurately... sure it's going to be great at protecting the knight from harm it would also slow them to a crawl reducing their speed, drastically reduce their endurance while fighting in it, make it incredibly difficult to get up should they be knocked down for any reason, and very difficult to fight in while in regions that at either extremely cold or extremely hot.
The Warden was the second class I decided to focus on, followed by the Peace Keeper though I never could get the hang of her, while the Conqueror was my main. He was always a solid back up in 2v2 matches and in some Dominion matches. I personally never felt like he couldn't compete with the other classes.
Completely agree Eratic. Everything on top of what you said Eractic, The Warden definitely has the best revenge in the game as well. I mean his overhead strike can practically 2 shot you. Btw if you were to give him combos what would you give him, keep in mind he's a knight he's not a samurai know for the impossible grace and speed. Knights have heavy armour and medium durability, giving him an insane combo just wouldn't fit with the "knight" style. If you like combos and stuns i would suggest you don't play the warden because he just simply isn't the right character for you. I hate playing the warden personally because my play style is a bit of stick and move not so much hit and block.
The Warden is anything but, under powered and boring. If you play him right, you'll have massive combos, quick strikes topped with high damage top hitters. I played only the beta, but I played only the Warden during the beta. At first glance he seems simple, but when you get into his move sets, he becomes an extremely adaptable character.
1. The double side light. If you played the warden, you must of noticed the side light attacks, if it hits, you'll also preform an intimidate unblock able attack.
From here it's all bread and butter, you can use a guard break, into another side light, or the shoulder bash. I should also mentioned if a heavy attack is preformed after the double light, it's speed is also MASSIVELY increased. It's about as fast as a light attack.
2. The shoulder bash. This can only be used after a double side light, or a dodge. It can't be stopped, it can be charged to increase distance, or if your enemy is close, to increase the distance they fly back. It can't be stopped whence committed, and can only be stopped by an attack before release, or dodging out of the way. However it's hard to dodge after the double side light.
3. The upper light is as fast as the second strike of the side light, its great for poking and stopping heavy attacks. This also brings us to the upper counter attack, great for people who know how to parry.
4. Last but not least, the upper heavy. MASSIVE DAMAGE.
When you've REALLY played the Warden, you can put all of these combo together and get quick attacks, that end in a lot of damage. All in all, at first glance he looks simple, trust me he is not.

Also in addition to the post above me Warden has I believe the fastest zone attack in the game. It's incredibly fast and can be used on reaction to interupt attacks and it hits a good area around him. Then also his top heavy has SICK tracking when used right. My friend and I call it the blink strike because it covers so much ground some times lol. Then also great forward movement when his top heavy is feinted into guard break it's awesome. I consider his top heavy to be his forward dash almost. Also his running attack although not huge damage actually is VERY fast. Most running attacks can be rolled through fairly easily if you are paying attention but his is damn fast.
I spent probably 90% of my time in the BETA as a Warden. Got him to Rep 1 level 10 or something with a gear stat of Rare 40. It's a great class to 1v3 - 1v4. I mean any class is if you're good enough, but I feel like it's easier done with Warden because that is what the class was made for. The shoulder bash I find kind of lack luster I understand and even utilized it. It's there for Wardens to close the gaps between enemies. As a Warden you don't want to put distance in between your enemy you want to constantly be on top of them and give them no time to react to your next move. Shoulder bash lets you do this. So, yes, shoulder bash is good if not great. It took me a while to understand that and learn how to incorporate it into my play style. I think we should leave that alone or at least tweak it a little. Like putting you closer to the disoriented enemy. I sometimes found myself coming up short because the bash pushed them too far back. But I do agree that the Warden doesn't get as much attention as it's counterparts. I've seen the Raider HEAVILY dominate/abuse it's abilities and same goes for the Kensei. The Warden takes more skill to play than the other two because I have yet to see a Warden spam it's abilities. But then that raises the question. Does the Warden need a slight buff? Or do the other two need nerfs? Personally, I am happy where the Warden stands. I think the other two do have a better kit, but that hasn't stopped me from completely destroying them.
As I said, the Warden is absolutely still a viable class. His kit does suck, and his lack of abilities hasn't stopping my pwnage in the battlefield. But it is slightly disheartening knowing that my class is a little gimped in comparison and requires a significantly higher skill level to play effectively, especially when he's qualified as an "Easy" hero.Originally Posted by Valkain_ Go to original post
