So I started playing this game about three hours ago and have really gotten into it. I've played my fair share of matches and think the characters are surprisingly well balanced considering how different they are; that being said, my first game I got messed up.

The gear system is really interesting and the game would be far more basic and boring without it, but when you launch straight into a multiplayer game with the default equipment and everyone else has stuff, even if it's only a weapon upgrade, it feels unfair. So I thought, maybe it would be interesting to have a beginner setting where everyone's limited to the default equipment, completely separate from other modes, where you can unlock level one gear.

Alternatively it could be nice to have that option available regardless of level because it's always nice to play a game knowing that everyone's on even terms. Obviously taking the gear system out would be stupid, but an option to play other people without it could mix things up a little.
