I've followed instructions but I cant get this to work.
When I use the "game with camera controls" the controller is still in desktop mode, and then when I change the desktop configuration it doesnt register any inputs from the controller. The steam button to bring up the big picture overlay doesnt work in game either :<

Not working for me either - in friends and family it worked when I launched uplay from steam, then ran For Honor. Now it's not hooking in the steam overlay, and I'm getting no movement with the steam controller.

Yeah, this doens't work. It would be less frustrating if we didn't have to find a different work around each Alpha/TT/Beta.
The method i used during the alpha doesnt work now, the method used for the TT doesn't work, it's starting to get on my nerves.

Not working for me either.
Can't get the Steam Overlay to work at all, so editing a controller layout on the fly via the middle button doesn't work which is a huge pain.
Also, since the overlay doesn't work, a lot of features of the steam controller are left out.

Anyone else have luck getting the overlay to hook?

There was a steam beta update, and now I'm at the stage I was with one of the old For Honor tests - the game's accepting input from the steam controller in the menus, but is keyboard and mouse only for the gameplay. Still no overlay though, whether I launch the game directly from steam, or launch uplay from steam and launch the game from uplay (which works fine for assassins creed syndicate and old versions of For Honor)

Ed: Just tried rolling back to non-beta steam, still no luck

Still read my desktop config. Resetting my desktop config is too much to ask.

Neither Uplay nor For Honor plays nicely with Steam atm. How is this supposed to work once the game releases on steam?

@Angier It does not release on steam, you can only purchase it there - you will be getting an activation key for uplay.
