Well I am a giant jerk. But that is besides the point lol.

Don't get me wrong I see your point. But don't understand how you don't like pretty effects. I hope they add a valk specific effect sending souls to Valhalla (only when killing the warborn).

But if they have that option at release I would be surprised.

But seriously though, they're adding those 'mood effects', instead of adding Male and Female versions of all classes (Male Peacekeeper please...)?

    Like really?

Despite them being kind of cool, they completely ruin immersion.

Why stop at this? They should add some magic. Say, fireballs, or a feat that turns opponent into a squirrel...

You mean a sheep. Polymorph is best.

There must be an option do disable these. I love cool effects and magical fireballs as much as the next guy, but they don't belong in For Honor.

Even if these are placeholder effects, it's clear what the concept is and you can make an assumption of what the final thing will look like.

I think it has absolutely no place in For Honor and it takes away from the experience. Imagine half a year from now when the "mood effects" are common.
Imagine a new player coming into a game and seeing laserbeams from the sky in what otherwise is a somewhat realistic looking game.
It just completely breaks one's suspension of disbelief.

If the wish is to fill in more customization options, then this is not the way to go!
I could not have said it better. I have already expressed my opinion on reddit, I wish they spent those resources in a more fitting way.

This belongs in maybe a Street Fighter or some animu MMO but not so much in For Honor. Sure, FH is fantasy BUT it does have a certain TONE, and those execution effects are tone deaf.

I believe the overwhelming response to remove these effects is a knee jerk reaction that is directly related to the effects being so overpowering. If the effects were much more subtle, similar to the unblockable or revenge effect, then some may find it slightly more palatable.

^ This. Maybe they are early ideas? Some of the black smoke ones seem really random and formless - I didn't even know what they were trying to do with it until I saw one time it worked and was like a soul sucking move and the smoke went into the victor. Some of the effects seem to want to center on the victim - only a few are off center. Some nearly completely obfuscate the finishing move's animation (usually the really bright flashing ones). One of them looks like it's supposed to be flaming wings on the victor's back, only they are small and somewhat formless, and sort of look like flaming engine exhaust. The cherry blossoms for the samurai are obvious, but they are scattered all over. Might be nicer if the petals traced the weapon movement. Overall possibly the general idea is good, but the execution as said above is way overblown and lacking in some refinement.

They're needing a more elegant and subtle touch. With some refinement they might be ok. I'd prefer they flow with the finishing move better, and not be so heavy-handed (ink black smoke? blinding flashing light?). Smaller in area of effect as well. I too would hope for the ability to turn them off in options, for those that don't like the end result (I don't like them as shown now) or wish to keep it more realistic (need this option in any case), although I'd be curious what could be done if there was sufficient time.
