It completely takes you out of the experience, which despite being fantasy influenced, was still very grounded and gritty.
there's a big thread on reddit complaining about this. please take this into consideration ubisoft

Now i can almost see the point if you are executing someone and it blinds you so you can't see your surroundings. Almost. But if that is your worry don't equip one problem solved.
Completely Agree!!!! Just NO to this ridiculous executing effects... really what the?? there are no physics in the game, no ragdolls, not even slightly to make the deaths more interesting, but then implenting something like this?? who the heck had such a bad idea?
Just give us a option to turn those annoying effects off please!![]()
I wholeheartedly agree.
Even if these are placeholder effects, it's clear what the concept is and you can make an assumption of what the final thing will look like.
I think it has absolutely no place in For Honor and it takes away from the experience. Imagine half a year from now when the "mood effects" are common.
Imagine a new player coming into a game and seeing laserbeams from the sky in what otherwise is a somewhat realistic looking game.
It just completely breaks one's suspension of disbelief.
If the wish is to fill in more customization options, then this is not the way to go!

While I get that these mood effects might present themselves nicely as cosmetics, they have no place in a game meant to be as gritty as For Honor.
Instead.... how about selling a splatter DLC, with adding a surplus of blood, guts and limbs to the executions? It being optional should still let your pocket swell, Ubi while nobody will actually complain about it being a thing.
