Customization
I've already talked about how Ghost Recon from Ubisoft Paris compares or differs to The Division from Massive. In this thread I want to take a more in-depth look at the character customization players will find when they enter Bolivia in Wildlands. I think there is a lot of potential for Charactersmith, as it has been dubbed.
Character
As I was happy to learn, the first thing to do in Ghost Recon is to determine how your character looks. You’ll be able to choose your Ghost's gender, head, appearance and outfit. Gender gives you the choice between male and female, and race. Appearance allows you to adjust hair, tattoos, scars, piercings (as seen in customization trailers) and other similar things.
You can change clothes and gear throughout the game, although facial changes have not been commented on.
Cosmetic and Equipment Slots
Once you’ve confirmed how your character will look, you can move on to the cosmetic slots. These are the slots that can be adjusted as you play through the game. This includes four categories: head, torso, legs and feet. This isn’t just one layer of clothing, as some of these slots will allow for multiple layers so you can really make your character look as unique as possible. In total I believe I heard there are roughly 10,000 options to make your character look and feel unique.
You also have equipment slots for body armor, gloves, helmets, and backpacks. We do not know if these will effect gameplay.
I truly hope they do. While I realize this is not a Sim, I would like to see Heavy Body Armor give more protection than Light Armor.
Since my time in the Marines, I really appreciate attention to deal, and an element of realism in video games.
Hopefully, we will learn more about customization, AI, weapons, and vehicles at this weeks press demo at Ubisoft.
Keep up the good work Dev. Team!
