Bunker Legends - how does it work?

Caution: possibility of dumb questions ahead

How do you get on the bunker legends leaderboard? Does this happen automatically when you earn enough stars to advance to Rank #1?

    If so:

When you get to Rank #1, can you fall back off the legend leaderboard by dropping back to Rank #2?
As a legend, do you only race against other legends?
How are legends ranked against each other (i.e. how is it decided who gets the top rank?)
Do you still earn stars at Rank #1? If so, how many are available?

If not, can someone briefly explain the process (i.e. what I might expect if I attempt a serious bunker effort)?

    Cheers!

Rank#1 is not Legends... and you can lose stars from rank #1. Once you are legends you can lose with no penalty other than reduction in Legend ranking. Which is why many people who earn legends give out "free wins" to help others get into legends.

To be Legends you must get one more star than rank#1 has.... in effect, you must "rank up" to legends, just like you exceeded rank#2's stars to get to rank#1

Legends ranking is more based on win/loss ratio, and the ranking of the people you win/lose against. RL once said it was based on the ELO algorithm:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system

Easiest way to get to the top of Legend ranking....been done in the past.... at about rank#5-10, start a ton of matches; about 20-40 MORE than you need to get to Legend, if you want to be sure. Win them all. You will end up being Legends and having won about 20-40 consecutive wins while being legend... without even PLAYING a legend ... which blows the whole algorithm and is usually sufficient to beat anyone who is doing actual legend-on-legend competition with decent people on a frequent basis (ie the vast majority of people lose sometime). Since it occurred on last day, little chance of anyone coming along and beating you.

Good to know! I'm not skilled enough to pull this off yet, but when I am (and have acquired a few thousand golden tickets) I may give it a shot

    Greetings TF Community,
I am going to briefly highlight my take on how the legend's leaderboard works:

Being a 6 time legend and having achieved this by only starting 3-5 showdowns at a time, i have gotten a general grasp of how the system works. There are 2 kinds of ranking systems:
The first one is the star ranking system that is used outside of the legends league. This raking system is quite simple and there is nothing special to point out about it.

The second ranking system takes effect inside the legend's league. Upon reaching legend's league the stars a rider has accumulated somehow (i am not sure how) are converted into a point system ranking. The following link is displays the point ranking system for the current season http://trials.bonxy.net/the-bunker/Afterparty+Season . This system is quite complex, but I am pretty sure that the number of points someone wins when in the legend's league, is based on the points of his opponent. Meaning that losing to a top 10 player, with a high amount of points, has a lesser impact on your rank than losing to the lowest ranked legend. Since matchmaking pits you up against players with whom you have a 2 rank difference, it is possible to lose to a rank 2 player and subsequently lose more points, than if you were to lose against a lower ranked legend.

Lastly, it is not possible upon reaching legends league to drop back out of it.

Right; thats ELO (in whatever form RL has implemented it). From the link above:

The difference between the ratings of the winner and loser determines the total number of points gained or lost after a game. In a series of games between a high-rated player and a low-rated player, the high-rated player is expected to score more wins. If the high-rated player wins, then only a few rating points will be taken from the low-rated player. However, if the lower rated player scores an upset win, many rating points will be transferred. The lower rated player will also gain a few points from the higher rated player in the event of a draw. This means that this rating system is self-correcting. A player whose rating is too low should, in the long run, do better than the rating system predicts, and thus gain rating points until the rating reflects their true playing strength.
