This is just my opinion on gearsets as a whole. Firstly is like to say I love that massive have tried they're best to try and fix gearsets best to their abilities, however a greatest with bonus damage is and will always be the best. I believe gearset damage bonuses should be dependent on a variety of factors depending on the gearset, for example firecrest puts it's 15% in to whether your opponent is on fire or not, or sentrys call depends on you to hit your opponent with a headshot with an semi automatic in order to gain your buff. I think all gearsets should be dependent on other factors like they are.
Third slot damage increase on some gearsets in my opinion is also to strong and it renders gearsets without such bonuses somewhat useless. Please share your opinions I'm intrigued to read them.

Whats wrong with sets? Game is about looking for overpowered builds, exactly what I want from looter RPG.
If you takl about PvP? Keep it die or separate it from whole PvE and I do not talk about PvE only DZ, I talk about predefined gear and abilities for PvP. So there is no problem keep PvE as is as it is in very well state right now.
I was talking about pvp, I think gearsets that provide a damage bonus that doesn't depend on varying factors really make the other sets useless. But I think the main issue is in the third pieces that provide flat damage bonuses, where (imo) they should provide skill bonuses.Originally Posted by komplikCZ Go to original post
Exactly and im glad somebody else other than myself can see this.
When they first came out it was an interesting new dynamic, potentially creating build diversity and specific team roles.
To cut a long story short, they have been butchered up and watered down to a shadow of there former selves all in an effort to balance pvp.
In the same way that SMGs lost crit chance and sentry lost the 45% stack with any weapon.
Said it before and ill say it again, pvp balancing attempts are draining the fun builds from pve.

Your entire loop revolves around having one gear set be OP in PvE, people complaining that it trivializes content and other sets are useless, if PvP is uninvolved, then they buff the weak gear sets -> new gear set meta.
Sentry nerf was a matter of time. If it wasn't for the sake of PvP then it would have been for PvE because it would have been obsolete in the face of new AI HP levels and new/old sets that have been clearly scaled to the challenge whilst the hypothetical Sentry gets neglected.
No doubt then you'd continue coming to the forum and complaining that your favorite gear set no longer performs as it used to...
Honestly, my feeling is that the current DZ should be changed to a PVE only area, and a new PVP DZ created with new gear sets/weapons/mods that can be found in the PVE DZ. I suggest that these pieces be red to easily differentiate them from current equipment.
This is what I envision:
1. These new gear sets should be carefully balanced. With fewer gear sets, this should be possible.
2. Players can not play in the PVP DZ with anything other than the new set pieces/weapons/mods, and this gear can not be used outside the DZ.
3. Add PVP missions to the PVP DZ.
Advantages:
1. PVE DZ for those who want it, with a purpose (obtain PVP gear).
2. A more balanced PVP game.
3. Added structure added to PVP.
4. No nerfs or buffs to existing equipment required.
And an open world PvEvP DZ? That just goes away? Thanks but no thanks.Originally Posted by nuclearbroccoli Go to original post
No, your idea of fun may be self defeating, mines not.Originally Posted by sandpants Go to original post
Having played ESO and SWTOR extensively, i can tell you that an MMO rpg is supposed to have a feeling of your character powering through end game content.
Gear is everything. It makes you feel like the grind was worth the time.
No, that stays. Sorry, I left that part out as I was trying to explain the gear change.Originally Posted by sandpants Go to original post
I was thinking for PVP missions, that they would be launched from a DZ entry point.
Essentially, there would be a PVE DZ, the existing DZ, and a PVP mission DZ. 3 versions in total.
