    Character switching in solo?

One thing I absolutely loved about the Original Ghost Recon was that you could choose your own team and their loadouts before a mission, and within the mission, you could switch between the operators as well as issue them complex commands.

Will we be able to do this in GR:W? Be able to switch from Holt to Nomad etc, the game would feel a lot more tactical in my opinion if this were available, and better yet if we can actually customise the whole Ghost squad. Or has the dev team already predetermined who we are going to play as e.g. Kozak in Future Soldier? Do we choose the operator from the beginning? I haven't seen any info on this yet.

EDIT: I know we cant issue complex commands. I just wanna know if we can switch between operators and how the system will work, because the trailers havent really given any indication of a 'protagonist' yet.

I can almost certainly say that soul swapping won't be in this. As for what character you play as I have no idea - if I had to guess it would probably be Nomad. Nomad is the poster child for this game, and I'm pretty sure on the official website it says that he is Ghost Lead for this particular team of Ghosts.

Wouldn't playing as an existing character render the 'character-smith' redundant? I was under the impression that when we start we create a completely new character.

I wish the soul swapping would come back. I would always fight tooth and nail to keep every Ghost alive and would actually reset the entire mission if I lost anyone.

And I thought there are predetermined characters? Like the black guy with the scar, mexican sniper dude, bearded white guy and the shaved head white guy.

This is taken from the website-

Customizing your character is the first action you’ll take in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. Using Charactersmith, you can select many different elements to customize: face, gender, hair, hat, top, tattoos, pants, shoes – more than a billion possible combinations allow you to design your own unique Ghost.

so, as I understand it, one of the team that we've seen already will be replaced by the character that we create. I wonder if the game will choose which one you replace based on what your loadout is or whether we get to choose. I'm also wondering if the names we've seen are actually just callsigns that will be allocated to the squad regardless of whether we've got the original team (seen in the trailers) or whether it's 4 online players.

This is just speculation on my part, but I have the feeling it's going to be like Bishop/Rook in Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Bishop could literally be whatever you wanted them to be, but they were still Bishop regardless. I could be completely wrong though.

There's no info on anything at this point, but from what I've understood about the little remarks and marketing phrases (reading between the lines), the AI can only follow the player character and change their ROE and the player is controlling only one character. That's it.

Besides, there wouldn't be much difference between switching from the marksman to the support gunner (while the AI would flock to the "active player character" like a band of little chicklets), when the pink camo -clad emo hipster lesbian player character can wield both of those weapons without any penalties in anything.

That's what I've understood from the devs' mumblings anyway...

I'm feeling a little wary with the lack of information about this. It seems to be fairly widely accepted that whole team customization and soul swapping would add to the game for singleplayer. I don't know, but I'd imagine it wouldnt necessarily be that hard to implement these features. Having said that, I have a strange feeling that they wont be included.

After much debate and feedback, it was decided that this was not the Devs vision in the least... at least that is what I am gathering with no news whatsoever
