    Is crafting still relevant?

As the title implies I'm wondering if the crafting aspect of the game has become redundant?

When I first started playing, a little while after release, I remember feeling that, certainly for weapons if not gear, that crafting at the BoO was the best way to ensure I got that gun I wanted.

However, after levelling up to 30 and dipping my toe in the DZ I stopped playing and was away for a few months at least.

Upon returning, about 4-5 weeks ago, the immediate thing I noticed was the new tier system and the fact that loot drops much, much more regularly than it ever did, and all of a sudden it feels like crafting is obselete.

Why bother doing that daily scavenge around the LZ opening boxes for electronics etc...when you don't need them?

I also noticed when I returned that one of the 3 vendors opposite the crafting table, down to the left as you walk into the BoO, has disappeared and only 2 remain.

So really my question is does everyone else think crafting is now irrelevant and is that good, a shame, or not important?

Also, could someone offer me a little advice regarding the few things I would like to try and craft, as opposed to buying it at an expense, which are extra magazines, silencers, various telescopic and red dot sights, which I am finding difficult to make as I don't know where to find the blueprints.

I assumed they are just at vendors, but are there any vendors better than others for that kind of thing?

So, that aside, what do you think...is crafting now irrelevant?

For the most part, crafting has been irrelevant since 1.1 when they borked the crafting economy after realizing that most of the gear players were using came from there. With the rate at which loot drops now, you don't really need to craft gear or weapons anymore. I would agree that crafting is still useful for mods and attachments. You can get lvl 34 blueprints for these from the vendor in the Terminal. Walk down the stairs next to the rewards claim vendor in the BoO and go to the vendor in the back left corner of that room.

Crafting is more relevant than ever IMO. There's more BPs accessible to more people than ever.

Now, Is it as defining as it was in 1.0-1.2? No because gear is more readily available to everyone now. But still if you are looking for the perfect roll, should the BP be available, it'd be by far your best shot at a particular item.

Yes it's relevant. You just need the right blueprints for what you want. An LVOA or M4 blueprint would be nice, and it just increases your odds of getting your hands on a godroll one. Crafting is as relevant or irrelevant as you personally want it to be.

As things stand, 3 of the 4 mods I run on my Lightweight M4 have come from crafting, as do my Savage gloves. So yeah... Crafting can be damn useful.

Depends on how much you play the game.

On ps4 I have 50+ Survival wins.. which amounts to gear drops in the 100's. This has resulted in me being 999 on all materials and a couple hundred million in the bank. I can't even remember when the last time was that I crafted something.

I'd say for casuals crafting is very much relevant but for the rest I don't see the relevance which is what I think the dev's intended all along.

I'd say crafting is not relevant to pretty much everybody in-game.

Gear mods is the only thing you need to craft tbh.

Speaking as one of the casuals-nah, crafting is useless now. Unless you're after a total god roll weapon, gear and mods drop out of the sky and the latter seem to be heavily weighted to drop from the crates you can buy from the vendors. I suppose for the hardcore min/maxing crowd it's more useful, since they have the materials and credits to just keep trying to godroll something, but someone like me, who just runs around the LZ doing named bosses and HVTs, crafting does nothing.
