    Weapon Proficiency system?

Remember Borderlands? Remember having that weapon proficiency system?

I'd love to have something like that for this game.

I mean, yes, we are division agents, but to be blunt, we are practically the Junior Varsity team really. A fully decked out WT5 Agent can barely go toe to toe with Riker #378,592 that has a frikkin face mask, a orange prison suit, and some cover-alls on with a regular old plain jane AK-47.

The idea is that , while we certainly have had weapon training, why would we be masters with every weapon type?

    Assault Rifles
    SMG's
    LMG's
    Shotguns
    Marksman rifles
    Pistols
    Explosives

Or perhaps like Defiance did, and you simply have a proficiency system for EACH weapon?

Something like this, but where as we use a certain weapon type over time, you get better with it. Better at reloading under fire, faster target acquisition, you "learn" the weapon and are better able to adjust for it's recoil pattern, stuff like that.

Every 5 levels or so, after a certain point, you get a main stat for that weapon increase. So say at 15 you get a significant reduction in recoil that Police M4 we start out with. Boy that would be nice, as the Police M4's have muzzle climb like a MF'er.

Granted, RNG is a love/hate relationship, and this would probably be no different, because if we did like Defiance did, then rarely would two weapons of the same archetype have the same proficiency rolls.

Hell, it could be skill power rolls, like say your first 8 levels were all between accuracy, reload speed, accuracy, recoil reduction, then suddenly a modifier for one of the Talent's on your weapon is rolled!?

    Say your weapon has

    Capable
    Destructive
    Intense

and you rolled a "milestone" point in your weapons proficiency, and you got a Talent Modifier. For Intense. The modifier is HEAT-SOAKED. Where the enemy will take more fire damage than usual, and be slowed for a bit because of having been on fire in the first place. Possibly now MORE susceptible to being set on fire again?

Or lets say it rolled for Destructive. Modifier is called Self-Destructive. This one is a double edged sword. You lose 15% of your own armor, but that 15% is now added to your own enemy Armor damage, and enemies are more likely to stagger ( NPC's) from being hit with AP rounds.

Or Capable. We know Capable reduces your reload speed, recoil, and increases accuracy, so how about a modifier called Streamline. Not only is your reload speed, recoil, and accuracy modified, but while Capable is on cooldown itself, your weapon damage is increased by 5% this bonus is lost after 15 seconds.

Any other ideas? I mean I have more, but would like to hear from other people.

There are simply too many ways to cheese PVE content that it really wouldnt mean anything in the end. I stopped playing PVE content once.I got my god rolled Barrets chest before that I was getting 1-2 proficiency caches every 3 minutes.
This will be another thing added that makes the DV even more unbalanced especially towards players who dont know the exploits or play as much.
